I really didn't expect to find another member of our track team on this sad list. Joe Nakao, another star athlete, would be on the Class of 1977 memorial list. RIP Dave, condolences to your family.
I've been in touch with Dave's brother Ray Giese (who did indeed assistant coach the LTHS track team back in our day). Below is his confirmation of the year of death. I don't know why the date found on the Internet was two years off.
