For the 25th class reunion David provided this biography:

“The biggest change in me during the last 25 years has been in occupation.  I graduated from Concordia Teachers College (River Forest) as a high school industrial arts teacher.  I now own a business that provides writing and teaching expertise to vehicle manufacturers in Detroit so they can train the service technicians (mechanics) that diagnose and repair cars and trucks in dealerships around the world.  I have been married to Nancy for 23 years.  We have a daughter (Julia) who is in the nursing program at Concordia University.  Our son Ryan is a fifth-grader at St. John Lutheran School in Rochester, MI.  I am a bicyclist and enjoy riding the rails-to-trails paths in southeastern Michigan.  I have pursued musical interests by singing in two church choirs and playing with the church “non-traditional” music ensemble.  A big surprise to Bob Harvey, Bob Bohle, and Fred Holland (former members of our group called Yesterday’s Paper) may be that I am once again part of a musical group (Kindred Spirits).  We play rock, folk, and blues tunes from the ‘50s through the ‘90s.  Come visit the food and spirits establishments in beautiful downtown Rochester, Michigan and you might see us play.”

For the 50th class reunion David provided this biography:

“I graduated from Concordia Teachers College in 1974 and I taught high school industrial education subjects in St. Louis until 1976. From 1976 to 2008, I held various positions in the field of education for dealership automotive service technicians.  This work has allowed me to live and travel throughout the country.  In 2008, I worked as a trainer and manager for a network of Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in Las Vegas.  I retired from full-time work in 2014 and I perform maintenance and repairs for a large fleet of rowing shells and related equipment in Pittsburgh.  In 2018, I also started working at The Home Depot in the hardware and Tool Rental departments.

I like to make and fix things and help people learn how to do the same. These somethings are as simple as a coffee brewer and as complicated as a vehicle automatic transmission.

At Luther I found that I had a knack for communicating with words. Mr. Grunst impressed me with his teaching style.  Miss Schmidt helped me see that I could be a good writer.  I still like to fix things.  I am a touring bicyclist and an occasional folk/rock musician.   When motivated, I can learn to do just about anything.   I’m a car guy!  Vacation fun is a week-long bicycle trip in Northern Michigan with a group of people.  Bring on those hills and headwinds!

Treat others as you want to be treated.”
