Danville – Marilyn J. LePere, 71, of Danville passed away at 5:35 AM on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Hawthorne Inn of Danville. She was born December 17, 1951 in Chicago, IL to Wilbur and Florence (Wahl) LePere. They preceded her in death.

She is survived by a brother, Rev. Ronald (Charlotte) LePere of OH; nephews Jonathan (Stephanie) LePere and David (Ali) LePere; nieces Ruth (James) Mowery and Judith (Jeffrey) Toepke; great-nephews Matthew and Ethan LePere and Jeremiah (Kaitlyn) Mowery, great-nieces Kristin Toepke, Sarah (Eric) Koester, Hannah Mowery, and Lucy and Molly LePere; and great-great nieces Phoebe and Naomi Kester.

Marilyn was a graduate of Northwest Lutheran in Elmood Park, IL and Lutheran High North in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Concordia Teacher’s College in River Forest, IL and her Masters of Education at the University of Illinois. Marilyn was a lifelong educator in the Lutheran School System, having taught generations of students in her career. She was a dedicated member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville and also belonged to the Altrusca Club of Danville, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Lutheran Educator’s Association. In her spare time Marilyn liked to collect angels and enjoyed genealogy, reading, crafts, music, and antiques.

A service to celebrate the life of Marilyn J. LePere will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. Pastor James Yonkers will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service on Friday, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 is in charge of arrangements.
