Detective Steve Schinkel died October 22, 2017 of pneumonia complications following surgery.   He had been diagnosed in the summer with aggressive pancreatic cancer,   He was an only child and has a daughter in Florida with two youngsters.   The memorial was held in Schaumburg at his favorite steak joint, Chicago Prime, a few days after he died.
