Douglas Thurston Robson, 65, of Chico, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.

Douglas Thurston Robson (aka Grumpy/Dougie) was born February 18, 1951 to Phyllis and John Robson, in Red Bluff, CA. His family owned a ranch in Chico where he grew up. He graduated from Chico High Class of 1969. He worked for Chico Datsun, King Chevrolet, and Chuck Patterson for a total of 45 years in Chico. His favorite hobbies all centered around car racing, wether he was driving, wrenching on or owning a race car, or driving the trophy truck at the track, Doug bled racing. He fixed many a bike when the kids were young also.  He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, working on his 55 Chevy, and watching Nascar, Sprintcars, and Dirt track racing. Doug would help anyone, and was the best designated driver ever.

He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Robson of 27+ years. Children, John Robson (Elena), Charlene “Charlie” Mcrice (Nevin), Max Robson, and Bethany Robson. Stepson Joey Hall. Grandkids, Johnny, Lucy, Laila, Maliki. Sister Claudia Greening (Gary), nieces Frances and Carey. Family “Granny” Margaret Glenn, Andy Glenn, Sherri Sue, Teri Ann, Barbi Boeger, and James Phillips.  Angels in Heaven, Tony Glenn, Jon and Marty Roten, Jazzi Easter and Jerry McRice.  Friends Mike Reynolds, Dennis Smith and many, many more.  He has gone to the best seats at the race, race on Dougie!

A Celebration of life was held on Saturday, June 11, from 1–4 pm at Silver Dollar Fairgrounds Harvest Hall Bldg. Racing shirts were encouraged.

Amen Doug.  I always enjoyed talking to you.  You were some of the very few that were truly honest.  I don't think you had a mean bone in your body.  You were always cheerful and had something nice to say about everyone.  May you Rest in Peace & who knows I might see you there, Amen.   Larry.

Doug was always sweet, and never knew any one he didn`t like.

He always had a great smile, and I liked him very much.
