FAQs
9-16-13 UPDATE:
Dear PVHS Class of 2003:
With sincere regret, I have to announce that the class reunion at Lakeside Pavilion has been canceled. Unfortunately, we were unable to sell enough tickets to cover the cost of the hired vendors. At this point, we are too far from the necessary minimum.
Please stay tuned for free alternate reunion ideas. Michelle Vogel Trautt is putting something together and we will be sending another email out shortly with those meeting places and times.
If you purchased tickets to the reunion, you will be refunded. Again, I apologize that this event did not come to fruition. I certainly gave it my all. Please send questions to pvreunion2003@gmail.com and I will address them individually. Unfortunately, I have recieved some derogatory, disrespecful and personally insulting emails already from a classmate- I will not respond to emails like that. Please remember I tried my best and am also dissapointed that this has not worked out.
Best regards,
Becca Falkner
General Questions
- Who is planning the reunion?
- As is the usual tradition, the Senior Class President of 2003 (Becca Falkner) got the ball rolling with assistance from Michelle Vogel Trautt in summer of 2012. We started looking at venues, pricing options, and dates. Since then, many have been asked to help and many others have volunteered.
- Why are they planning the reunion?
- Usually someone involved in student government in high school spearheads the event by organizing addresses, contacts, and various details. Please read on below to find out how you can get more involved.
- My friend graduated from PVHS Class of ‘03, but has not heard anything about this event – why not?
- We have contacted the main office at PVHS and listed our contact information and email address on the alumni website. We have also posted event information on the general PVHS alumni Facebook page. We plan to drastically expand our advertising of this event ASAP in other capacities. Word of mouth has historically served as a great communication tool for alumni events and we would welcome your help in spreading the word so that everyone can hear about it.
- Finances/Fundraising
- Where will we get the money from?
- The reunion is a not-for-profit event and as a result will be funded through the event ticket sales and fundraising.
- Who is in charge of the money? Where is it being kept? Will there be a report showing how much was raised, etc.?
- Michelle Vogel Trautt and Becca Falkner have been collaborating to find the best way to handle the finances. We have since opened up a business bank account through Wells Fargo in the name of PVHS Class of 2003. This is not attached to any of us personally. This account will house all funds for and from the reunion. We are dedicated to being transparent will all of the finances and will make a report available with the statement information and funds collected after the event. Please send any related concerns and questions to Michelle who is the treasurer (pv03finance@gmail.com).
- Who is in charge of fundraising?
- Michelle Vogel Trautt (treasurer) is in charge of fundraising and is working closely with Ashley Jimenez. They have experience fundraising for events, but still welcome your help and ideas. Please send any fundraising related questions/suggestions/etc. to pvfundraising03@gmail.com.
- Why are we fundraising?
- Given that are event is nonprofit, we intend to fundraise in order to help cover the added costs of hosting such a large-scale event with the intention of the end result being an event that is both unique and memorable for all that attend.
- What will the funds raised attempt to cover?
- The funds raised will attempt to cover a variety of things including but not limited to: event décor; games and other event-related elements; a classmate memorial to honor our friends who have passed; and building of our class legacy (for example, startup monies for a scholarship fund), etc.
- What type of fundraising avenues has the committee organized?
- There are several elements of fundraising being employed.
- Goods & Services: We are interested in collecting donations of goods & services that can be raffled off as prizes at our event.
- Ad Sales: We intend to have a program book for our event and are seeking generous businesses and individuals to submit advertisements. These ads do not have to be business or service related. They may be informal “Blast from the Past” or “Where are they Now” shout outs with pictures. Buy the space, fill the space – no set requirements outside of the obvious – ads must be tasteful and light-hearted.
- Event Sponsorships: We are looking to partner with businesses and community members interested in supporting our event in a more invested way. Those serving as elite sponsors will be publicly acknowledged for their support of our event.
- Matching-Funds: We are looking for generous businesses and community members to participate in our matching-funds campaign. In this role, businesses and individuals can commit to matching a pre-designated amount of their choosing.
- If you are interested in sponsoring the event or are affiliated with a business that may be interested in becoming an event sponsor, check out our donation letter and list of donations.
- I know someone who may be interested in donating something, placing an ad or serving as an event sponsor. What should I do to secure the donation?
- How exciting! There are two options: (1) You can download the donation letter and secure the donation personally and then contact Michelle Vogel Trautt to coordinate the drop off or submission of the donation or (2) you can email the us directly at pvfundraising03@gmail.com and provide us with the potential donor’s name and contact information for us to contact directly to secure a donation.
- Keeping in mind that many classmates are donating their time and energy to this event without anything in return, we are interested in hosting an incentive program to entice other classmates to get involved and help us fund raise solely for the purpose of maximizing our event’s potential for greatness. So, for the top 3 classmates who are able to secure the most donations (based on total monetary value of donations secured) will be acknowledged at the event with a surprise gift.
- I am too busy to donate my time to this event but I’d like to contribute something. Can I personally donate to the event?
- Absolutely! We welcome any type of support! Whatever works best for you. Any of the fundraising options described above are great ways to show your support for the event without having to overcommit yourself time wise. And, outside of those options, we will also graciously accept free will monetary donations.
- How much will tickets cost? What will I get for my ticket?
- Please see the ticket buying option for pricing.
- The ticket price covers the cost of the venue and event amenities like entertainment, food & beverage, etc.
- Are there refunds for tickets?
- Once the tickets have been purchased, there are no refunds since there is not a feasible way for us to handle that. However, you could always sell them to a fellow classmate. Should you opt to do that, please contact us so that we can adjust the guest list. Otherwise, they may not get admittance if the names do not match.
- Reunion Event
- When/where will the reunion be?
- The reunion will be Saturday, October 12th, 2013. More information about the time will come soon, but it will likely begin at 6pm. We are so excited to have booked the beautiful Lakeside Pavilion in California Park. For more information about the venue, please see http://www.lakeside-pavilion.com/.
- Why was that date/location chosen?
- The date was chosen for a few reasons. First, most large places were booked in the summer already for weddings. Secondly, we thought that Chico in the fall is very beautiful and we would be able to use the gorgeous outdoor patio without it being too hot or too wet from typically winter weather. Lastly, it gives us enough time to lose weight – just kidding.
- What should we wear?
- This is not a formal ball, but it isn’t a backyard BBQ. Anything in the middle of those two would be perfect. Think classy, but casual. The most important thing is for everyone to feel comfortable. Most likely women will wear a dress or skirt and men will wear slacks and a nice shirt.
- What should we expect to do there?
- You should expect to have a wonderful night reconnecting with friends. We will have live entertainment in the beginning, a DJ for dancing at night, a raffle in the middle and a few speeches from classmates and past teachers. There will be games set up outside on the patio and an overall fun party atmosphere.
- Will there be food and drinks?
- There will be a fun casual dinner that will be buffet style (likely a taco bar) and a bar set up with adult beverages and various tea and soda. We will also have dessert and potentially a late night pizza delivery (anyone want to donate that?).
- Can I bring a date?
- Dates are encouraged! Please bring your husband, wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, partner in crime/partner in life, etc. We can’t wait to meet your significant other. If you don’t want to bring a date – no worries. You might find one at the reunion.
- Are kids invited?
- Kids are not invited for obvious reasons. This is an adult-only event, but please bring some pictures of your little ones so we can see how cute they are.
- I didn’t graduate from PVHS, but I attended at some point – can I still go?
- Generally speaking, 2003 graduates have priority for attending but this is certainly a possibility depending on venue space and ticket sales. Please contact Becca Falkner at pvreunion2003@gmail.com about this.
- How many people can I bring? How many people can come to the reunion?
- As a PVHS Class of 2003 graduate, you can bring yourself and your date. That’s it. There is a maximum capacity of 300 people at the Pavilion and tickets are on a first come, first serve basis and WILL sell quickly. If you are considering attending this event, our suggestion would be to purchase your tickets as soon as possible.
- Will there be formal mailed invitations?
- We wish. However, we don’t have the time or the money to send out formal invitations to over 400 people. This means we will need your help spreading the word. Plus, with our world being much more technologically savvy than it once was when we graduated high school, we have many more avenues of communication available to us that are much more economical which allows us to put more of our time and money into the event as opposed to formal invitations. We assume that since reunions come around every 10 years, most people will also be asking around. We will keep you up-to-date on the reunion website and will respond daily to reunion questions emailed to our account.
- Other
- I have a special request/dietary need/etc. that I need to share, who should I tell?
- We want to be as accommodating as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us about your concern. The sooner that we are aware of how to help, the more likely that we will be able to accommodate it. Please email us at pvreunion2003@gmail.com about this.
- I have some great ideas that I would like to share – who should I contact?
- Please email us at pvreunion2003@gmail.com with your ideas and provide your preferred email and phone number that you can be reached at. We firmly believe that with more help and ideas, the reunion will be even better. There is no way that one or two people can put this event on alone.
- I hated high school/ don’t like the people planning this event/ despise social outings, etc. – so why should I go?
- If that’s the case, then perhaps enjoy dancing, booze, tacos, free raffle prizes and/or the concept of donating to a scholarship fund sound enticing to you. In all honesty, everyone has a mixture of wonderful and terrible memories from school. However, let’s give each other another chance to dance the night away together now that we’ve got 10 more years of life experience under our belts. Not to mention the added potential for professional and personal networking. Who knows where some of our classmates have ended up in their personal lives and careers thus far?!
- I don’t see my name on the “list” why not?
- The list of classmates that are on this website are people who graduated from PVHS in 2003. If you attended briefly, or did not graduate from PV for whatever reason, then your name is most likely not here. If you would like to attend the reunion even though you did not formally graduate from PVHS, please email us at pvreunion2003@gmail.com with your full name and contact information and also the dates that you attended. You will be put on a waiting list in the order that you contact us. Priority registration goes to graduates, but we want you there also and know that there are a lot of extenuating circumstances. An email will be sent to you in August with further information.
- I’m not happy about this event/the date/the location/the ticket prices – who should I tell about this?
- We have a “special” email account for these types of things. Just kidding. We honestly do want to hear all of your concerns and address them respectfully and appropriately. We know that there will always be people who are thrilled with the event as well as people who aren’t.
- In the end, we are hoping that everyone understands that we are doing the best that we can to create a memorable and special event that everyone enjoys. Our main goal is to “please the masses” and will make every effort possible to achieve this goal. Everyone on a committee is donating their time for the benefit of the class, so please keep that in mind. Lastly, each class approaches their reunion differently, some have a pot-luck style picnic, others have organized a casual meeting at a bar, however, and we wanted something that is unique, special, and reflective of how fun our class was while also providing a space large enough for such a big group. So get your dancing shoes on and come party!
Can’t wait to see you all!
