It is with great sadness we announce the passing of another 1980 classmate.
Our friend and classmate Barbara (Jones) Ling passed away in October 2024. There will be a celebration of life on June 7th, 2025, at the Spenard Rec. Center in Anchorage from 1pm-4pm. For those who knew Barb and can make it to the celebration, I sure the family would appreciate knowing she is still remembered by her classmates. https://obituaries.adn.com/adportal/listingView.html?id=8671

Tina Williams (Davis)
Hello,
My name is Tina Williams-Davis. I was Barbs friend. She was so sweet and a lot of HS with her was interesting. She had this laugh, wether talking about a Jock , that reminded her iof what she didn't want to be. Or a bully who she hated. She still had a wise crack. Always followed with a infectious laugh. I remember her having a crush on someone, who she would mess with sending him notes as if she was a cheerleader. Then feel guilty that she did it. She had a heart this girl. We all had those friends who we wished we had stayed in contact with. Some we did, some we lost contact. I thought of her over the years more than I realized. Mostly when my son would laugh and he had that same infectious laugh. She had a laugh where, as soon as it started she couldn't control it. If she felt comfortable I mean. Boy I'm blessed to have been that friend, because my son you see died the same day she did. Amazing how people stay with you. It was a great loss, and my heart breaks for her family. I would like to tell one more story. She had a moment in , 9th grade when she was not happy with a teacher. While respecting him. She wasn't a fan. How she delt with him was outrageous and still sticks in my mind today. She had another art class she was in. We were doing painting. She painted a picture of him with a ballet dress on and framed it, put it on his desk. She said in a note to him. Amazing how people are judged by their skill, looks, and various things. But teachers are there to be fair and impartial. I am one of the students you bully and treat unfairly. So my portrait is a example of how you can be judged and actually be a decent person. She said I want to be a teacher one day. But I hope you see this as how it feels as a student to be bullied by a teacher. I will change my heart, because of you. I will love kids no matter the background. Thank you for reminding me of this... a student
this was her perspective and personality to call them out without truly calling them out. But she laughed at her own skill. I hope one day that when I'm gone. That I have those who remember. The important mments in life that makes you feel GOOD. This one made me feel good about what she would do one day. She was amazing.
