 E. Cherrie Ruesch, 48, died June 27, 2010, at her home in Chugiak.
A celebration of life will be at 5:30 p.m. July 31 at Raven Hall at the Palmer fairgrounds.
Cherrie was born Sept. 15, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minn.
She became a resident of Alaska in 1975 and attended Chugiak High School, graduating in 1980. She was affiliated with the 4-H-Pony Club, NRA Shooting Program (Youth), Outdoor Women's Council and shooting sports. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and educator who loved youth activities, shooting and horses.
Her family wrote: "Cherrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an extraordinary, classy lady, always hardworking, dedicated, caring, genuine, and a shining star. The community will miss Cherrie's knowledge and kind spirit. She enjoyed family and friends, horseback riding, shooting sports and volunteering time educating the youth. Cherrie loved her morning coffee, hot toddies, music, traveling, Alaska and all flowers. Her favorite colors were fuchsia, burgundy and purple. Her eyes were green and her smile was pure. She will be missed."
Survivors include her husband, Leonhard Ruesch of Chugiak; daughters, Whitney Carr of Montana, Sasha Ruesch, and Champagne Ruesch of Chugiak; sons, Chase Ruesch of Seattle and Sebastian Ruesch of Chugiak; granddaughter, Morgan Carr of Montana; father, Arnie Larson of Minnesota; mother, Joyce Larson of Palmer; brothers, Kent Larson of Wisconsin, Keith Larson of Minnesota and Kirk Larson of Anchorage; sisters, Celeste Williams of Chugiak, Carla Beu of Kentucky, and Charyl Alm and Cammie Hejny, both of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 4-H-Anchorage and Mat-Su Outdoor Council of Alaska NRA.

Dawn Kornegay (Kinney)
I first met Cheree while helping my parents at the Alaska State Fair Horse Shows. Cheree was in charge of ring crew - she worked herself and her crew hard, including her Mom that supplied lunches for us all. She always had a huge smile on her face. Her children were always in tow and they had to work as hard as us. Her love of horses and her family where a big part of Cheree. She will be missed by all. God has a wonderful Angel with him!

I remember Cheree with a smile on her face and a helping hand. She was always very giving. I wish her family peace in this time of sorrow. And like Dawn, God has a wonderful angel with him now. God bless to Cheree and her family.

Cheree and I lived down the street from each other in Chugiak. We sat by each other on the school bus for nearly two years. She was a true friend! I always admired her for being so positive and just an all-around good person. She helped me through some difficult trials in my life. I really regret not keeping in touch with her better after high school. She will be sorely missed by everyone she came in contact with.
