What teacher do you remember most from Morton East?

Had to be Mr. Ivonelli (sp) - I was acting up in American History - he said I don't know if my career is worth putting you thru the wall...immediately got my attention.   Imagine a teacher saying that today!!

My most memorable teacher was Ms. O'Quinn (later to be Mrs. Zachary)

She taught honors English Junior year.  She was so hard but so good.

Actually got me to start reading!

Two of my most memorable teachers were D W Ritchie (chemistry) and A D Sheehan (bookkeeping).

Mr Ritchie once told me; "Frank, you are the only person I know that can put one gallon of gas in a car, drive 100 miles, and take two gallons out".  You can guess by that comment that I was not an exceptional chemistry student.  But I could never understand why Mr Ritchie was the indoor track coach given his stature and slow nature.

Mr Sheehan was my Bookkeeping teacher.  He had a great sense of humor that did not fit the typical stereotype of someone in that profession.  I really liked the class and loved numbers.  I thought going into the accounting field could not be that bad since he had maintained a sense of humor.  I went on to spend almost 40 years in accounting (all with one company) retiring as a corporate controller.  But my sense of humor did suffer after all that time.  But it is coming back.

I remember Mr. Culver, my Physics teacher.  Who ever knew that I would someday be a Physics teacher myself and let my students enjoy the fun of putting all those complicated Physics formula to practical use?

Mr Ivonelli was one teacher I remember well.  He was a different kind of teacher.  He gave one test in which, if you read it first, there was only one question that had to be answer to pass the test. It was the best test I ever had to take. Lol

Ms O'Quinn is another teacher I remember well.  The way she taught was a way I really could relate to.  I hated to read and/or do book reports, and never read the books, until her class.  The first  book I read cover to cover for school was Treasure Island.  I still have the book.  Before that I only read comic books, joke books, Nancy Drew Mysteries, and The Hardy Boys, cover to cover.   It is amazing how one person can make such a major change in another person.
