John Edward “Ace” Asan has passed into the loving arms of the angels in heaven on January 18th, 2024. He was the son of the late John and late Lillian Asan, husband of Mary Ann Pieklo Asan, father of Brian Asan, Elizabeth (Spencer) Whitney, Baca (grandfather) to Nellie Asan, Charlotte and Asa Whitney. He was brother to Maureen (John) Nipaver of Kennesaw, GA and Jeffrey Asan of Berlin, Germany, brother-in-law to Barbara (Richard) Talacek and Michael (Janine) Pieklo, uncle to Lindsey (Josh) Thompson, and Christie (Stephen) Brantley, Kirstin (Marshall) Subach and Kelly (Jessica) Pieklo, great-uncle to seven.
John was an athlete in his youth, pitching and winning the semi-final and final games of the 1970 Illinois State High School Baseball Championship for Cicero’s Morton East Mustangs. He married his high school sweetheart in 1974 and went on to father two beautiful children and become Baca to three beautiful grandchildren. He and a partner founded AK Tool and Manufacturing which remains a thriving business
John loved to travel, fish, golf and hike and enjoyed the company of family and many friends. He was happiest having water balloon fights with the grandkids, wetting a line or landing a ball on the fairway during his Saturday morning outings. He and Mary Ann traveled to many beautiful places and enjoyed the ocean and playing in the waves. He was a joy to be with, was perpetually funny with his warm, inviting personality and was easy to talk to. He will be missed by many friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, 9:00 a.m. till time of services at 12:30 p.m. at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home 80 E. Burlington St. Riverside. In lieu of flowers donations to Livingwell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva IL..
