The West Clermont tradition known as the “Bell Game,” is soon to be history. On Friday, August 28, the Glen Este High School Trojans and the Amelia Barons will face off on the football field for the last time, in preparation for the new West Clermont High School that combines students and staff from both schools.
“The size of the school and the number of students will allow the district to offer many more opportunities in academic programming and extra-curricular activities,” said West Clermont Superintendent Keith Kline. “For now though, we are celebrating the traditional friendly competition between Amelia High School and Glen Este.”
Game time is set for 7:00 P.M. Pre-sale tickets are $5 starting on Wed. until 2 PM on Friday, at both high schools. The “End of an AGE” pre-game activity starts at 5:00 P.M. at the Glen Este Baseball Stadium where the GE athletic boosters are preparing a carnival/tailgate, complete with games and inflatable student challenge relays. Marching bands comprising Glen Este and Amelia high school students will perform, along with the cheerleaders from both schools. Food, drinks, raffles, and community information booths will be available. All proceeds from the carnival will benefit the Clermont County Boys and Girls Club of America.
According to current Glen Este High School Principal and future West Clermont High School Principal Bob Walker, seating is first come, first served. “It’s going to be a wonderful event for the community. It would be great if fans would carpool and arrive early to have some fun, enjoy a hotdog, and get settled in.” Walker said. “We plan to allow tours of the building,” he added. “Alumni may sign a ‘Memories Wall’, as a part of the celebration.”
