Hi Folks!

Update from the Irene aftermath:  Lost power Sunday, still not back Tuesday evening, might be end of the week before we have lights, internet, etc back.  Sending this from Panera bread with wi-fi connection.

Just a Tropical Storm is still pretty scary when you have 80-100 foot trees with shallow roots in wet ground whipping and swaying all around you, sound is like standing next to a big waterfall.

No damage at the house, other than lots of shredded leaves (probably like you folks had with Ike a couple of years back)

Going to try to get out to Ohio after power is back, I'll keep folks posted here!

Stay safe!

Hi folks!

Irene update: Got power back at my house Thursday evening, roughly 106 hours after it went away.  Some people out in the country had over a week with no power or water (well pumps dead).  Family now truly appreciates electricity, a camping staycation is NOT the way to enjoy an inexpensive vacation unless you have a taste for MRE's (think Chef Boy-Ar-Dee in camoflage).

In Cincinnati for a few days to try to clean up some of dad's papers, more as it happens.

Be safe!

We were in Canada at the Bay of Fundy when Irene hit.  Had lots of rain on Saturday and lots of wind on Sunday.  Not much damage at the campground we were at, but the Bay of Fundy came within about 200ft of the campground at high tide.  We got the motorhome ready to go in case we had to make a quick exit.  Everything turned out okay.  We had an awesome 3 weeks in Canada, though!

News from the Northeast

Since Irene came through, weather has been fairly calm.  The one exception was the October blizzard that shut down every part of the state that didn't get walloped when Irene came thru.  We Stil have no snow, January 16th, and only a couple of chilly spells (2-3 days below freezing for a high).

Thinking about heading to Phoenix to watch Cactus League ball in early March, anyone up for watching the Reds play ball with us?

More as it happens,

Don

A 1975 grad from Glen Este High was killed during the recent storms that hit Moscow and Bethel, Ohio. Jim Prater died when his mobile home was hit during the storms. Jim had gone to my church in Mt. Carmel and was a really good guy.

Hey, I would like to visit the 1969 page and the 1971 page but it doesn't allow me to do it. Do I have to sign up as a member to get on? Anybody know?

Mike,

We weren't near the storm, but our daughter lives in Maryland and they were expecting the storm to hit them. Fortunately, it was not bad where they were - just lost a few shingles and some trees in the woods behind their house.

Hi everyone

It's hard to believe that it has been 49 years since President Kennedy was killed on this date. I remember sitting in Mrs. Alley's sixth grade class at Sumerside School when she gave us the news. It doesn't seem like that was so long ago.

Happy holidays to everyone back there!!

Hi everyone! Summer is here and I hope everyone is enjoying yourself.  Steve Morris is a neighbor of Debbi Huls. She said he's hard to pin down and talk to. Anyone have big plans for the summer?  I lost my mother on April 1st. She lived with us for the last 5 years. For my summer, I just plan on getting thru each day best as I can....and do plenty of yard work!  Digging in the dirt is good for what ails you...:-)

Greetings Classmates,

A message from Gail prompted me to get back on this site.  I want to wish you all well.  I am also wondering if there is any thought to another reunion.  Blessings!

Hope all is well with you, too, Vicki.  I had just emailed JoAnn the other day about plans for our next reunion in 2015.  Official plans won't start till next year, but I was thinking about an all day picnic and having the food catered. It seemed like at the 2010 reunion, it was difficult to get around and talk to everyone.  If anyone else has any ideas, let us know.

Nancy, thanks for the response.  A picnic sounds great to me.  Back up plan if it might rain?  I will definitely look forward to coming and seeing everyone in 2015!  Blessings, Vicki
