If we are going to do this at my place the end of July or beginning of August would be best for me.I've got a out of town wedding July 9 th and a 60 th birthday party for my brother-in- law [Bob Owens]July 23rd.

Hey Folks!  Hope everyone is doing well.  If I am going to make it to the gathering (and who knows for sure), the end of July would be better than the beginning of August.  School starts way too early nowadays.  Peace to all.  Vicki

Let me give out some friendly advice.I just got a colonostopy a view weeks ago,I have been putting it off for a couple years now.I got my results which included a polop the size of a quarter.I was then sent to a oncologist who told me if I had waited another 6 months I would have been saddled with full blown cancer.I have to go back in 6 months but my doctors came to the same conclusion that we had beat cancer by a hair after the the polop had been sent out.So get your colonostopy mind was inherited which makes your family being checked even more important.Bottom line is I'm ok but lucky.

Rick,  So glad you had this done when you did!

Rick, I'm also glad to hear that you got the colonoscopy in time. I had one done about 4 or so years ago after listening to Katie Couric on TV relate how she lost her sister to colon cancer. She was crusading for anybody over 50 to get one. Even though I was clean I'm sure glad I had it done for peace of mind. Please take Rick's advice if you haven't had one yet. They put me out and I didn't remember nothing. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable was the nurse winking at me after it was over...

Gary  I just read where Mr. Spelman passed yesterday.

Rick, sorry to see that. May he RIP. I remember Mr. Spelman at Summerside Elementary as a good teacher and I think he was involved in Boy Scouts, as well. Also, he had a lively arm and could swing a mean paddle as I unfortunately found out...

Does anyone remember Schoensiegel? He was about two years ahead of us (I think). I remember him in school having a terrible car accident where he almost lost both legs but he healed and was ok. Anyway, I saw his death notice in the paper about two weeks ago.

I think we all remember Mr. Spellman.  So sorry to hear of his passing.  Rick...thank goodness!  We had a very dear friend pass away a few years back from colon cancer.  He made me promise to get tested...it took me another year, but needed to be done as my father had polyps developing constantly.  I got a clean bill of health, and thank GOD yours got caught in time.

After I got married, Mr. Spelman lived in our neighborhood in Summerside.  Not sure how long he lived there because we moved away.  I never had him as a teacher, but I do rememeber him being very strict.

Rick, so glad you are ok and that many of us have taken that route.  Colon cancer took family members of ours and I know it is hardly ever curable.

I just heard from Don Clemons that his dad passed away this afternoon.  He was such a sweet man and I am so glad I got to meet him this past fall.

GREAT NEWS TO SHARE!!!  Catherine King Hassan was walking yesterday!!  She is now using a prosthesis and and with the aid of a walker (temporarily) is doing so well!!  Being a resident of the Heartland of Madeira, 5970 Kenwood Road, has made all the difference!!  They have nurtured and guided her through her therapies--what the power of prayer can do!!  Thank you all for those prayers!! A TRUE MIRACLE!!!

That truly is great news!  So glad Cathi is somewhere that gives such good care.  Hopefully, she will be able to make it to the picnic this summer.

Was able to visit Cathi a couple of weeks ago. Cathi seemed in good spirits and well cared for. Where she is living is only 10 minutes from our new office so I will try to stop in from time to time. Her one complaint about where she is living is the food-Cathi says that it is bland and boring. I try to take her food when possible. If anyone has a chance to visit she loves creamy peanut butter.

God bless

I'm sorry for any inconvience but I'm going to have to cancel the picnic which is scheduled to take place at my house this summer.Rose's sister's cancer has taken a turn for the worse and I'm afraid that if something should happen close to the time of the reunion it would cause more problems .Rose is her only caretaker and the stess is unimaginable.Again I'm sorry but if I waited and had to cancel it later it would makes things worse.Nancy if you could let everyone know maybe someone else could do it on the same date or another time.Delbert has a beautiful place maybe he would be interested.Regrettfully Rick Dixon

Hi Folks

Went to Jim and Zoila's wedding. It was a beautiful event and had a great time at the reception. People brought food....lots of food! Zoila is a wonderful person.

Did you know that Jim and her were engaged 35 years ago but her father forbid it? It's a great love story 35 years in the making.

Congrats again Jim.

Just an up-date. I have been in Texas for a couple of weeks now. Not much different from Ohio. Hotter, more congested, more arid. Saw my first Roadrunner in the wild the other day, no coyote in sight. I do miss Ohio but I have to give this new chapter of my life a chance.

Love to all

JIM

Just saw the notice for Roy Hyser. He pasted away on June 15th from a long illness.

I understand he was a long time employee of Frisch's. I'm not sure what his position there was...he might have been one of their architects....someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The notice mentions two children and two stepchildren, but no mention of a wife

Anyway my sympathy goes out to his family.

Bill, I saw the notice too about Roy Hyser.  I'm not positive but I think he married Connie Purcell from the class of '71.   I knew Roy for a long time because his family lived next door to us.  When I talked to him last year before  the reunion he had just gotten home from the hospital and was recovering from pneumonia.  And I think he did tell me he was an architect, too.

So sorry to hear of his passing.
