Thanks to the reunion organizing committee and especially to Janet Ach for the frequent reminders.
I am thankful for my WHHS experiences and eduaction that launched me in life. I particularly appreciated the broad education (never would have taken Latin if not required), accomplished teachers and students, sports opportunities, and help with college counseling (attended Cornell).
It does not work out for me to attend the reunion so I'm sending an update on news from the last year, for anyone interested.
I stepped down last year as anesthesiology department chair at a busy academic practice (200 surgeries per day, 36 trainees), and now work half-time. It is meaningful work. I'm happy to be able to still practice safely - not sure how long I'll continue.
I have 6 children and 7 grandchildren, all doing well. Oldest grandson finished his first year at Dartmouth, and two more are applying to college this year - one already accepted at Brown. I expect I'll have more grandchildren sometime.
I am still writing and running. Have three articles coming out in the next few weeks - all scientific. Find one from last year that is more a reflection on life at JAMA 2021;326(23):2369. I'm running the Erie Marathon in a week, will try to qualify for Boston - not sure I'll be able to do that since I'm fighting biology as well as race timing.
I haven't been in Cincinnati for more than a decade, but will get back sometime. It's a wonderful place. Best wishes to everyone for a good reunion.
