The highlight of our 40th Reunion for me was spending time with Joanie Siegel and Bob White.  We had a great conversation (Bob and I remembered back to our Losantiville days when he played Tom Sawyer and I was Huck Finn in a 4-act production of Tom Sawyer).  The love, care and devotion that Joanie showed for Bob was a beautiful thing to see!  And Bob continued to be so fun and so smart and never seemed to let his paralysis get him down.  I'm very sad that we lost both of them in the past six years!

Donn's comments are so true about the 40th. Seeing Joanie Siegel take care of Bob White

was very endearing considering Bob's paralysis. Bob's attitude was very upbeat. I remembered

a fun party in Bob's house.

Donn - do you remember Coach Mayberry when we ran cross country in the 10th grade?

Joanie was my best girlfriend.  I watched (in horror) as she matched all those guinea pigs or whatever those small animals were for the biology science project - hers illustrating some genetic issue.  But most important Joanie taught me compassion and respect.  Some of this came without either of us realizing it from what her parents taught us about civil rights.  Just being around their household inculcated me -- and Joanie even more so -- with a real sense of social justice.  Joanie carried that commitment in her personal life and in her work with disabled workers.  She stood for racial equality and human dignity.  I do miss her.
