CE: Georgia Rice Litz CHS '61 and Joan Coachman Bates, CHS '58 Jul 2013
 Joan Coachman Bates and husband Dowell were in Waynesville, NC for their annual
summer visit to the mountains.
Joan picks up the story of their Chance Encounter (of the CHS kind):
"The city was having a Friday night street dance with a live bluegrass band and square dancing as the main attraction. The dancing was in full swing when it began to rain. It was just a light sprinkle, but the band stopped and covered their electric equipment. We didn’t have umbrellas, so decided to get to the nearby store overhang.
As we were walking to the sidewalk, I heard a voice nearby ask, are you a Coachman? Having never met this lady, it was surprising to be identified so far away from home.

Once we began talking, Georgia Rice Litz explained her connection with my brother, Mike Coachman, as a high school classmate. As Mike and his wife Elizabeth were also in North Carolina, I called Mike to tell him of this encounter. Georgia and her husband were camping just outside Waynesville and received a couple days later visit from Mike and Elizabeth."
