Elizabeth & I were on our honeymoon western trip visiting Glacier National Park, Montana for a week. We enjoyed a Chance Encounter with Jim Coachman.

Jim (CHS '66), Mike ('61) Coachman @ Jackson Glacier Overlook, 8/98

We were in our car (that we tow with the motorhome) at the Jackson Glacier overlook on the Going to the Sun Highway.

We had gotten out to take photos and have a comfort break. I was walking across the parking lot when a white SUV pulled up and the driver said "Cousin, what are you doing here?" It was my cousin Jim and his friend, Mary Lou Krentzman who just got to the park that day. The last I had heard from them we were in Colorado, they were in Washington State and we had not mentioned driving to Montana.

My cousin was driving past the parking lot and told Mary Lou "That guy (walking away from him) walks just like my cousin Mike." Mary Lou told Jim "It probably is Mike since that is Elizabeth coming from the outhouse." Big surprise for all of us!

The same type Chance Encounter with cousin Jim occurred a few years later On the Baie Verte Peninsula in Newfoundland, Canada. The island of Newfoundland is over 500 miles across. I guess when one does as much traveling that we do the Encounters will continue to happen. I have heard stories from friends of similar encounters they have experienced when my name came up during such meetings. Interesting world of travel-----
