Greetings Courtney and Happy Birthday.
We last saw each other in the D.C. area probably 20 years ago or more.
Let me know how you are doing. Please call me (Loren Hershey) on my cell 703/409-9828.
My wife and I still live in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Best for the day and the year ahead!
HI Ken -- I wish you a happy birthday and want to thank you again for reaching out several weeks ago to reminisce about CHHS over lunch at the Cedar Restaurant here in D.C. across from the FBI Building (HQ). May I suggest that we agree to host any willing classmate(s) who come to visit D.C. for one reason or another -- whether we do it singly or together -- as the ambience of the Cedar is low-key and the food extremely good at a reasonable price. Topics need cover CHHS only briefly & can then be wide-open. Being that you (and I) are trained attorneys and that you serve as Executive Office of a major division of the Justice Department, you should be aware that you are exactly 3 days younger than my wife Birgit. I think that a completely non-material fact, but worthy of small mention. Best for your celebration this evening. Sincerely, Loren Hershey
Elaine -- Thank you for the splendid photo spreads of the gala 50th. For one who did NOT attend it was a wonderful experience to get the still shots that dramatized the personalities -- most of whom I have not seen or spoken with in the past 50 years. A true existential experience these past several minutes of review! Regrettably I have been recovering from some very problematic physiological issues -- including 6 years on a statin that seemed to have severe side effects. I quit the statin on 7-15-14 and visited the cardiologist, etc. just a few days after the 50th events to get my "all clear" prognosis (and this after a severe heart attack in June 2012). Wish to visit by email with as many class mates as possible. I ask our class mates to read my two (2) OPEN LETTERS you, Elaine, were good enough to post at my request on the USER FORUMS. I believe we should make the "social media" of the home page and features to work -- individually, unilaterally & mutually -- for each of our benefits. I invite class mates to reach out to one another, to collect their thoughts and reflect on that shared experience of November 22, 1963 -- as the single-most "touchstone of history" that we shared in the same building at the corners of Cedar & Lee Roads. For those who have experienced the world as I have from the Arctic Circle to the Antarctic Circle, from the Himalayas to the Dead Sea -- and personages from the street sweepers of Calcutta to the ceremonial halls of the White House -- I ask you to weigh in with your deepest and most sincere reflections on the stages of preparation given by our days at CHHS. I remember certain teachers (many & I shall name them one day) who left imprints that I carried into my adult and career years. Last point is to ask you all to consider a class project of striving to be the most self-consciously and the most collectively healthy graduating class that CHHS has produced by reading the Cleveland Clinic site for the Real Age Workout -- albeit conceived by a brilliant doctor not our class mate, but at least one with the deep Cleveland connection! Provocative a bit?! Best in all, Elaine, and keep up the good work of maintaining the web site and stimulating meaningful exchanges between and among all. Sincerely, Loren Hershey

Mike -- I cannot say I remember you well. But I write to recognize your service to the U.S. through the Marine Corps. If/when I get to Florida next (which is rare for me over the years) I would like to look you up. You may have been in the Marines when our former U.S. Senator here in Virginia Jim Webb was enlisted. I know him moderately well through both legal circles and political circles. I also admire his writing style & his many books. If you ever get to the D.C. area, please give me a call at 703/409-9828. You may know about the newly-opened Disabled Veterans Memorial at the foot of Capitol Hill which just opened to the public a few days ago. I hope to get there this weekend. Best in all. Loren Hershey
