I hope I get my invitation this week!!

My dad also left Germany...right as the war was breaking out. His is a fascinating story. They were smuggled out on an Italian freighter and were supposed to go to South America or somewhere...but the blitz happened as they left and they spent the war in Shanghai China (my grandfather actually died and is buried there) as prisoners of war. In the end, the family was stateless, no papers, couldn't really return to their country of origin. My dad drove a truck for the U.S. government in Shanghai after the war, and my uncle enlisted in the U.S. Army. And they subsequently came to the U.S. No other extended family members from Germany survived the war.

Sandy...I WISH I could be at Paninis...just once!!! You are doing a great job planning these events!!

Shelley, That is a unique angle...never heard that kind of survivor story before! Tough times our parents had! God bless them all and their families (us too)!

I just came back to Carlsbad after a wonderful Los Angles visit with my CHHS reunion friends!! Joel and Nancy, Dave Horn and wife Donna, Susan, Harry and his cousin Ari from Brush were all there as well as my mom and myself of course! (She wouldn't go without me!) It was like being with family we hadn't seen for a long time! All nice, down to earth, sweet people. I was proud to be a part of such a wonderful group!

I am soooo looking forward to seeing the rest of you in October and hopefully seeing more of my LA new/old family!

Bonnie Hirsch (Lauer) Clare The funny thing is that Joel invited Don and I to CA for the weekend that you got together with everyone else. Wish we could have swung it financially. In our hearts, we were there with you and the others. Can't wait to see everyone in October.

I haven't gotten my invitation yet either. I am sure we will get them soon. I have been kind of busy with a job change so no posts lately. Today is the first day I have read it in a month.

But I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!!!

Louis Berman i have stories but what can i say both of my parents went thru that hell hole of Europe hiding for there lives as you can tell they made it and that is why i am here. that is my story and i am sticking to it

Shelley, You can write your name at the top but I am suppose to receive a aset of labels with everyones name to put on the response card. So far I haven't received it. Glad to hear you finally received it. Please anyone if you haven't received it by this weekend let me know.
