Linda Berger Bomar

After high school, I attended Kent State where I earned my teaching degree and met Dave, who became my husband on August 24, 1974. We celebrated 36 years of wedded bliss this August:) Dave and I lived in the Cleveland area for just one year before moving to Toledo where we lived until 1992. I taught Special Education for a year and a half and then spent four and a half years teaching first grade. When my first child was born in 1980, I decided to stay home. I didn't return to teaching for thirteen years. By that time we had relocated to the Atlanta area due to a job change for Dave. It took awhile to adjust to living down South, but now...18 years later, it does seem like home. I resumed my teaching career in 1993 and spent the next 14 years teaching second and third grade. Although I loved working with the children, I got discouraged with the emphasis on test scores, and decided to stop teaching at the end of the 2006-2007 school year. I have to say that it took very little effort for me to adjust to a "life of leisure"!! I am enjoying the time I am able to spend with friends and family...especially my precious grandchildren!!! After a huge health scare for my husband involving colon cancer in 2009, I am happy to report that he is doing quite well! It's amazing what incredible doctors, major surgery and 6 months of chemo can do! So, at this point in time, I'm thinking Life doesn't get much better than this:)

I remember deciding to paint the baseball bleachers black and gold to help show support for the team....and in particular for John Houser:)While busily painting, I ignored the calls of "Heads Up!" and managed to get hit right in the head:(

Also, I remember the one and only time I cut class was to go to Shaker Lakes with John. I left during study hall and stayed out through lunch. Mr. Farinacci was waiting for us as we returned to campus. Somehow I was assigned to regular study hall, but I don't believe John was punished at all!

Lastly, I fondly remember being on the Caldron staff and the fun that was involved in putting together the Senior section of the yearbook:)
