My favorite achievement: Celebrating my 20th anniversary of surviving stage-3, grade-3, triple-negative breast cancer on 03/20/2020. I talk about this because I can. (For the first 3.5 months of my treatments, my oncology team thought that my cancer was stage 4.)

My most challenging decision: I’m nearing the end of a 5-year nonpaid family leave. I returned to Cleveland (I left in 1975) from Brooklyn NY to help care for my aging mother; she died in September. I need to choose between staying retired in Cleveland or returning to my last job as an occupational therapist for the New York City Department of Education after Labor Day. I also have the possibility of being retired in NYC, but the cost of living is high...

I needed to race from a class on the 1st floor to the girls' pool on the 4th floor. By the time I reached the bathing suits, only size 42 was left. (I'm 4'9" and I weighed less than 90 pounds.) A classmate used a shoelace to tie and tighten the straps on my back, but the fit was still large. One time I dove off the diving board and I swam to the top of the water in my birthday suit. At the time, I was embarrassed, but I later learned that skinny dipping is amazing.
