I left Ohio after graduation to attend Michigan State University, following in my older brother's footsteps. Got married to Bill, a business major, before my senior year. Graduated with a B.S. in microbiology in 1975. Did cancer research at MSU for a couple of years and then did a med.tech. internship for a year. Worked as a med tech in Lansing for quite a while, first full-time, then part-time while my sons were little. I started teaching at Lansing Community College in the late 80's. I was offered the full-time faculty and program director role at Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek, MI in 1996 and have been there since. I got a master's in education from MSU in 1999. I really enjoy both my lab science profession and teaching adults and my job has been a great blend of that.
My husband Bill works for the State of Michigan in the Dept. of Information Technology. He is looking forward to retiring soon. We've been married 35 years and counting. :>)
My older son Brian graduated from Grand Valley University and then Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is married to a lovely woman named Courtney and they are expecting their first child on July 8 - which is why I can't come to the reunion. I'm very excited for our first grandchild to arrive! Brian is about 1/2 way through an orthopedic surgery residency in St. Louis, MO. They hope to return home to Michigan when he is finished with his residency.
Our younger son Daniel graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in secondary education, majoring in Biology and Earth Science. He has a job he loves teaching high school biology in northern Indiana. His girlfriend is also a biology teacher. They should have great summers together!
I wish I could join you all and see how we "matured" over the years. Have a wonderful 40th reunion!
