Roye Kidd leaves John F. Kennedy High School with more than 200 football victories, five city titles and a greater impact on young Cleveland men than can be measured.

After 39 years -- 36 as head football coach -- Roye Kidd is retiring from teaching and coaching at Cleveland John F. Kennedy High School. At the age of 68, he leaves the Senate Athletic League school with a 204-127-5 record and five city championships. He graduated from Knoxville College in 1964, and served in the Air Force from 1964-68. He also earned a Master's degree in physical education from the University of New Mexico. He began at JFK in 1969, where he taught biology, health and physical education at different points in his career.

Coach Roye Kidd retired in June 2008. In September 2008, The Cleveland Metropolitan School District renamed The John F. Kennedy Football Field after Coach Roye Kidd.
