I don't remember the details, but Carl owned a music store in Fairview. Someone came in and killed him...I think it was a robbery. Does anyone remember? Carl was one of the nicest guys. I think it was just a few years after graduation.

On January 1980, Carl Ferrini was shot in the back during a robbery of his Fairview music store. Fingerprints were left on glass on and around the cash register but failed to identify the culprit.

Thirteen years later, in 1993, through computerized fingerprint ID, police apprehended Paul Mackey in the murder of Carl. He was tried in 1994 but the trial ended up in a hung jury. The following year, he was re-tried and was convicted of murder and felony murder on the basis of the fingerprint evidence and the testimony of a cellmate to whom Mackey had made incriminating statements.
