The question of dress style for the reunion has been raised by several people and the consensus is that summer business casual would be the best choice.  Relaxed, cool and comfortable, although probably not quite beach friendly informal, is the majority vote.  So plan on being comfortable and ready for whatever summer temperature Mother Nature throws out way... and plan on a good time too!

Coming from Cayucos I think jap flaps, bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirts are appropriate !!!!   ha ha !

Bob and Kathy, I could not agree more, Bermuda Shorts and Sport Shirts and Sandles, what could be more fitting for the Class of 1963.

Perhaps an alternative for you guys who want shorts - Casual Friday Business Casual.

I think he was the class of '64.

You might be right Patti. He does look about a year younger than the rest of us.

I find Mr. Bretz' "JAP Flaps" comment to be culturally unsophisticated, politically incorrect and socially unacceptable.

I DEMAND AN APOLOGY to all of us who were blindsided by this unfortunate use of slang!  Shame on you Bob!

Hencceforth rubber sandles will be referred to as:  Portugese Jogging Shoes, Vietnamese Motorcycle Boots, Russian Reboks, Nepalese Nikes, Pakistani Pumps (ladies wear), Flanders Flip Flops, or  Angola go-heads. I once heard the footwera in question described as Sanger Hi Cowboy Boots.  If you must use the the national identifier in full; it would be: "Japanese Flaps".

It is my understanding that there is a class put on by P.C.I. A. (Politically and Culturally  Incorrect, Anonymous) at Jimbo's on Herndon avenue every thursday night.  Your attendance is invited.

Regards,

Nigel Flopstock

I find Bob's comments amusing and refreashing.  The politically correct thing is way overplayed.  "Go Bob", see you in shorts.  Bet our legs are almost as good as the yellow shorts guy.

I can wear shorts and sandals any day but I only have one 50th class reunion and I’d like to look nice. Back in '63 gals wore skirts and dresses. I can do it again for just one night.

Checked weather.com this morning and there must be a mistake; says low to mid-90’s through the weekend - downright springlike for The Valley. Usually when I go to Fresno/Clovis, there are new or threatened record highs. This is going to be great!!

Best Things about going to your 50th reunion:

5. NO ONE cares what you wear except you

4. It is not in Oklahoma

3. Friends

2. The event is inside  (Unlike the graduation in Vacaville 105, outside, on metal bleachers)

1. You are still alivecheeky

Patti- I like # 1 the best  !!!! - being upright after 67 years is wonderful- we're a lucky bunch- grew up in a great place in the best of times- looking forward to seeing so many after living in the Northwest most of my life. Retiring in Cayucos was a childhood dream.  I promise to dress respectfully !!!!! - and hey Shada - remember being out there in full football gear twice a day in late August- whoa- the air conditioning in the Memorial bldg will be nice.

Cheers !  Bob

Thanks for reminding me Bob – With the two-a-day practices, it’s absolutely amazing how fat I remained. Oh wait, I know how; my cuz Doug and I would stop at A&W on the way home for Papa burgers and floats.

Things are sure different now. As I recall, we were advised against hydrating; they gave us salt tablets instead. What they should have done is put a salt block in the middle of the huddle to lick between plays.

I think about those days quite often, especially when a coach is sued, then fired for grabbing a player by the jersey, or yelling at him or her, or throwing a chair, etc.. If Frank Anderson were coaching today, he would be doing hard time in a state pen for assault.

And, they wouldn’t let him wear shorts.

Hi Patti Kuhns,

I don't know if you remember but we entered the 3rd Grade together at Sierra Vista, and on the same day.  I was so shy and bashful then.  I am glad that changed.

What was great about growing up in Clovis was that so many of us grew up together and went to the same grammar schools and then to Clovis high school.  We were so blessed to live in such a great time to grow up.  I remember  playing Babe Ruth Baseball, lucky me, I graduated from the eight grade with a broken leg which I got while sliding into second base.  Mike Beauchamp's dad took me to the hospital in his 1959 Buick.  I was ever so grateful, he was so very kind to me.   Some of my best memories was in the fall and a bunch of us would all meet at the park at Sierra and Clovis Avenue and play sand lot football.  We got banged up, bloodied and covered in mud and loved every minute of it.  And who can forget Cherry Lime Ricky's at Gages Drug Store after school.  We were lucky, the kids now days will never know that kind of life, all they know are computer games, texting, xbox, PS1,2 and 3.  I remember Gary Mobley, Mike Shada, David Lewis and I heading out to dances at Cinnamon Cinder, Rainbow Ballroom, and the Marigold.  We also ventured out to Bass Lake to the Falls.  Pretty wild "Huh".  Bobi, loved riding in that 1958 Ford of yours, Yellow and White if I remember.  I also will never forget our Football Practices,  they did seem to be a bit tortruous at the time, but I think we were all the better for it.

Mike Pavich, what ever happened to your Corvair Monza.

Hey Mike Shada who was it that fell into the cess pool at the party.  Was that you or Gary's cousin, Tommy Dean.

Who can ever forget our Sophmore and Junior Years playing football with half of our players taken because of District  changes and the new High School McClane took part of our players and then others went to Roosevelt.  I remember playing both ways then and we were barely able to field 20 players.  Our Senior year was differant and we were able to field a bigger and better team.

Hey Candy, I still have a picture of us on Sadie Hawkins Day, thanks for asking me.

All I can say is that Clovis High School was one of the best experiences of my life and I thank all of my classmates alive and gone who made that possible.  See you at the Reunion and I think I might even be in shorts.
