Residing In: Stone Ridge, NY USA
Spouse/Partner: Joan
Occupation: lawyer
Yes! Attending Reunion
Comments:

I became a lawyer and worked in mental patient civil rights, then got an advanced legal degree and became a tax lawyer in 1985. That evolved into a specialty in money laundering and counter-terrorism financing after 9/11.

I am married to Joan, who is in some of the pictures attached here.

In 2006, I began raising and training a labradoodle named Chloe, and have written several books about dogs from a legal perspective. I have a blog, doglawreporter, where I discuss legal and other developments regarding trained dogs.

For anyone who remembers me with glasses, the change is due to the fact that I had cataract surgery. About the only advantage of growing old that I can think of at the moment.

We had an early snow in Stone Ridge, the day before Thanksgiving, and with a two-wheel drive I had bought in Arizona, I got stuck in the snow. Bad planning given that we decided to spend the winter in New York for the first time in 9 years. This was taken Thanksgiving morning.

This was taken by our guide in Agra in February, but since the trip to India was the high point of the year, we decided to use it as a Christmas card.

It took me a while to figure out how to add captions to the photographs, so even though the website will indicate the profile has been updated, it is mostly because of my marginal ability to deal with such programs.

I gave two lectures at the Indian Institute of Finance outside New Delhi in February 2014. I had been on the advisory board of the Institute since the 1990s, so when the Director learned I was coming he asked me to spend some time with them. All classes are conducted in English because students get jobs at banks and financial institutions around the world.

Paraphrasing Leonard Cohen, these days I seldom look this good, or bad, depending on your politics. I had to spruce up a bit to speak at a forum run by WGBH. For anyone willing to tolerate my droning on and on, the forum discussion is available on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzeIZw1rA1M.

In 2013 I testified in a terrorism trial in Paris. Unfortunately no cameras were allowed in the courtroom in the Ile de la Cite, the same courtroom in which Emile Zola defended himself for his J'accuse letter during the Dreyfus Affair. The defendants were behind bullet-proof glass, each with a gendarme on each side like a scene from Judgment at Nuremberg. Someday I hope to be cleared to say more about this. It was nice to be in Paris when tourists are few and far between. My wife's French was adequate to most tasks, but for my testimony I was given a simultaneous translator.
