Ron Roehrich, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend was called home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2025. Ron was born on February 12, 1939 in Las Animas, Colorado to Melvin and Vyvyan (Moore) Roehrich. His father’s career in construction took the family across Colorado during his childhood. They lived in LaJunta, Center, and Idaho Springs, before settling in Colorado Springs. A talented athlete, Ron played many sports, including football, baseball, basketball, and he ran track. He was a proud member of the 1957 graduating class from Harrison High School in Colorado Springs.
Ron went on to attended Fort Lewis College and Colorado State University, earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics. That degree took him to Southern California where he met and on December 19, 1964, Ron married his bride, Terry Ellen Andrews. He called her his “American Beauty Rose”. They shared 60 years of marriage which resulted in a beautiful family which was a source of great pride for Ron.
He was very proud to have contributed to the United States advances in space. As part of Douglas Aircraft, he worked with NASA on several Gemini and early Apollo missions. He went on to spend more than 40 years serving the Department of the Air Force developing space situational awareness and intelligence capabilities that remain critical to military space operations today. His service has made our country a safer place. Ron finished his years of service with the Aerospace Corporation, providing his expertise to senior leaders across Air Force Space Command.
Ron was an avid life-long learner. He was particularly interested in World War II aviation and naval history, and enjoyed spending time at the National Museum of World War II Aviation. He enjoyed tennis, golf, and spending time with family and friends.
There is no doubt that family, friends, and colleagues were there to welcome Ron to his heavenly home. We are certain they are now sharing memories and catching up, as we are celebrating his remarkable life. Ron had an amazing sense of humor and extended kindness to those he met and called friends. His steadfast loyalty and friendliness were hallmarks of his character.
Ron is survived by wife Terry, daughters Michelle (Ken), Melinda (Brian) and Marisa (Jerry), grandchildren Taylor, Turner, Perrin (Jason), Grace, Kate, and Paige, sister Joyce (Gene), and sister-in-law Ellen (John). He is also survived by his beloved pup, Abby, with whom he shared exceptional companionship. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and son-in-law Chris.
For those fortunate enough to know Ron, you know that he would not want this to be goodbye, but rather, “catch ya later.”
