Lorenzo Copeland Obituary Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors & Crematory on Jul. 12, 2024. At the end of March 2024, our dad, Lorenzo Copeland Jr. (also known as Lorenza Copeland Jr.,Rig, Shilo, Chanz, and Silent Thunda), was called back to the holy paradise of eternal life. He left the physical world at the young age of 63 in a peaceful slumber, leaving behind an honorable legacy. Lorenzo loved his family more than anything. We extend our gratitude to our late grandmother, Bernadine Tyler (Copeland/Tanner), and my grandfather, Lorenzo Copeland Sr., for giving life to our dad and his three siblings and brother n law: Doriena Susette Longmire, David Bernard Copeland, Lyndon Earl Copeland and Woody Longmire. Lorenzo had four children: Damion Terrel Copeland, Avierre Da'Viane Thomas, Alana Dell Charee Copeland/Terry, and Neeve Emse Copeland. He was a grandfather to Hakeem Antonio Stewart, Ayanna D'nae Copeland, and Amir Diamanté Copeland, and a great-grandfather to Jackson Terry, ZaVian Batts, and E'voni Zymir Guyton. He was also was an uncle to Shawntel Tenisha Copeland, Deshawn J. Copeland, Monica Reneè Longmire, Sagan Ariel Copeland, and Tiana Rianne Longmire. Lorenzo was amazing at everything he put his mind too: music, art, sports, and being an angel in people's lives that were close to him. He was a hard worker and never went back on his word. Our dad was a rare person in many ways...he was born with his heart on the right side of his chest which is a very rare medical condition-perhaps that's why his love was so rare, potent and his charismatic energy was intoxicating to all he came in contact with. Lorenzo Copeland Jr. was a "Free Spirit" with a unique and creative mind. He was steadfast in his beliefs, no matter how different, unorthodox, uncommon, unexpected, or unpopular. He always had a perspective on life that made you think. He took pride in his accomplishments, such as his outstanding skills in basketball and football during high school ( Harrison High School graduate) and college (New Mexico Highlands / UNC Greely), and touring with people like Roy Jones, RUN DMC, and Nelly, just to name a few. Life didn't deal the easiest of cards to Lorenzo. He also was a major inspiration too a multitude of up and coming local artists. He helped pave the way for many artists careers. Though his life was eventful and full of hurdles, nothing could stop him from spending most of his time perfecting his craft, creating art, making music, and uplifting the people around him. Today, we gather to celebrate the bittersweet life and death of our father. His wish is that everyone who loved him keep their heads lifted high and stay grinding no matter what happens in life. When you are feeling alone, helpless, or really missing him, just speak to him, and he will speak back in spirit that lives on through his music and charismatic energy he left with everyone he knew. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/lorenzo-copeland-obituary?id=55559506
