Elmer Grayckowski Obituary
Elmer J. Grayckowski known as "Gray" of Colorado Springs passed April 17, 2011 after battling with an illness for the past year. Gray was born in South Bend, Indiana August 13, 1930 to Frank and Catherine Grayckowski. In 1948, he entered the Air Force and served for many years and held several positions. In his military years, he traveled all over the world from Alaska to Korea. He retired in 1970, but still enjoyed telling many of his military stories to his kids and grandchildren for years. Gray was an active member and volunteer at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church as well as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very passionate and proud about the several blood drives he hosted and organized. He was very well known among the community for his unique humor, kindness, Albert Einstein-like hair and his infamous saying, "It will heal before you get married". Gray touched many people's lives and was loved by all. He will be missed tremendously. Gray is survived by his wife Margaret Grayckowski, his children- John Grayckowski, Ed Grayckowski, Marie Lanning, Joan Costa, Rick Grayckowski, and Philomena Howard, his stepchildren- Patricia Wittwer, Rick Martinez, Judith Martinez, Mark Martinez and Tamara Martinez, his grandchildren- Seth, Scottie, Shawn, Tabatha, Nash, Lindsey, Marisa, Samuel and Lucas, along with many more grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Grayckowski, his son Stan Grayckowski and stepdaughter Jean Lou Pfalmer.
