Lance Webb was in CS-17 at the Air Force Academy.  CS-17 was my cadet squadron for three years also.  I sent emails and a postcard to all the members of the Class of 1974 in CS-17 for the recent 40th Reunion.  Lance responded to my email sent at the end of July 2014 inviting our classmates to attend the reunion.  Lance stated that he would love to attend the 40th Reunion for the Class of 1974 and CS-17, but he was fighting "small cell cancer".  Lance passed a week or so later after he sent me this email.  I played football at the Prep School with Lance, and I recall seeing him several times during cadet basic training.  He was in CS-17 for three years with me.  I remember when he broke his leg during a football game our junior or second class year.  He wore a cast on his leg for a long time.  On several occasions, I helped Lance carry his books to his dorm room.  Lance was a quiet man, but we always greeted each other in the halls with a smile.  He was a dedicated football player, student, and cadet.  I don't ever recall Lance getting into trouble or ever saying a bad word about anyone.  I know he was a dedicated physician to his patients and loved serving his patients.  Lance was a quiet man and a good man.  I was proud of his accomplishments and having the prividedge to know him for part of our lives.  God Bless Lance Webb and his family.

Lance was my roommate during the prep school year.  He always worked hard and consistent on any task we had for prepping the room for inspection, checking each other out for uniform and hair inspection, and working together for homework assignments. Laughed together while cooking some food sent from home over a turned up iron as our 'electric skillet'. Cool under stress. Determined.  During BCT I remember him grunting and grimmacing to put the M-1 together during the Assault Course runs...bending the assembly.  But it got in. Lance put his heart into everything he did that I was aware of.  Seems like his professional life reflects that.  I was lucky and am proud to have him as a roommate, classmate, and among my friends from those early years.  I look forward to seeing him in the everafter.

I roomed with Lance for a time during our Doolie year in CS-04. And for a small town boy from Oklahoma, getting to see the world through the eyes of a big city boy from Chicago, well it was educational and enlightening. Lance taught me to see things from a different perspective and I am grateful for that. Yes, he was a good person and will be missed. God Bless you Lance.
