I am back.  I read the Spotlight on Pastor Abraham Jeter.  It is awesome.  Is this the same Abraham Jeter with whom I had a class?.  He was sooo quiet!!!  Now, he is preaching what thus sayeth the Lord to millions of people and performing missionary work.  Indeed, the Lord has made him a fisherman of men.  That speaks volumes.  I am so glad that God has used him in this spectacular way.  It just re-enforces the statement that "you can't judge a book by its cover."  It takes a whole lot of courage and effort to speak in front of people but for one to speak in front of literally millions of people, that is amazing!!!  Pastor Jeter, continue to let God lead you to be that vessel for Him!!!  I am soooo proud of you, too.

Lula,

Thank you for the kind remarks.  I thank God for my journey.  You mentioned about your oops, well my statement ,I am sure had lots of them.  Could not go on the web via my desk top computer or my lap top, for some reason, so I actually used my I - phone to type the info. 😂😂. That was a challenge, but I am about getting it done.

My heart goes out to you, during this holiday season, after the passing of your Mother.  I think of her whenever I turn the corner near her home on Farrow Road.  May Peace, Love and Blessings  be yours.  My memories of her go back to when I was a little girl, at Saint John Baptist church. She was always dressed beautifully, with her matching hat and that big beautiful smile. Love you Lula, hang in there.

Thanks, Sylvia. This time of year will be difficult for us because Mom always made sure that all received something and everyone congregated where she was. We will try to keep the tradition going. You can relate to that, I am sure. Mom was the glue that held us all together. Have a good holiday and enjoy your family.

You are quite welcome. However, my husband, Maurice, handled that aspect of it. I will pass it on.

Hello Classmates!

I'm totally not computer literate. I've missed communicating and keeping up with what's going on.  I'm trying to do better and stay in touch.  I'm doing well, and trying to stay focused and aware things going on.  I'm alone, trying to speak with folks whose numbers I have. Take care, and blessings to all!

Hi Narda,  I decided Columbia was safer for me than Brooklyn and returned here March 22nd.  The governor here, though, has decided to open up stores today. I intend to avoid  for at least anothr 2 weeks all but grocery and pharmacy stores.  I hope to see you at reunion.  Stay well, Joyce

Remembering Shirley

When I moved to College Park, Maryland, in the 70’s, Shirley and her two children where my first guests for dinner. Harrison had the good sense to not come. My spaghetti was not very good, but they were polite.

I moved to Chicago and lost contact with her, but we have family connections so I always knew about major events in her life. I knew when her son was killed. Her son, Brian Gibson, was a DC police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1997. Years later I was watching national news and a story was presented about Shirley and her work on behalf of the DC Police Dept. She had opened her home to DC police officers and prepared an annual holiday meal for officers for years. She was a strong supporter and advocate for police issues. Watching that story I felt so proud of her. She had taken tragedy in her life and used it to do something positive. Google her for more info about her work.

We remember her as friendly, outgoing and a dedicated member of our class.  When she was able, she would show up. I last saw her at her mother’s funeral. She was sad, of course, and did not look well, but she still had that thing that made her uniquely Shirley.

I am proud of so many of my classmates and felt the need to highlight Shirley.

I don't post often, so forgive any errors.

Thanks for listening and y’all take care.

Many thanks to the classmates who have posted remembrances of Shirley Anderson. Shirley remained faithful and committed to the CA Johnson Class of 64 as long as she was able. We celebrate her life as much as we miss her presence. May her transitiion remind us ALL that our time will also come! Blessings for our outstanding classmates.

Hey classmates,

Some of you know I had heart surgery in August. I saw my surgeon for follow up last week and he states I am making good progress. Also and more importantly, I am feeling much better.

This email is to thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement, cards, phone calls and text messages. This surgery and recovery has been more complicated than I anticipated so your support was especially meaningful and very much appreciated. Thank you so much and good health to us all.

Take care,
Margaret

Hello Classmates!

Trying to check in again and staying in touch.  Doing well and still in Martinsville, going from window to window looking out and seeing no action.  People around me are moving slowly and cautiously and I'm doing likewise.  Haven't traveled anywhere recently, but am anxious to gosmiley!! Children are fine and keeping up their work schedules.  Don't know when I'll get to S.C., but watch and listen to Sunday morning services from there weekly,(First Nazareth and Bible Way).

Continued blessings and prayers to all.  Call me sometime if you wish to talk(276-732-1490).  If I don't answer, leave me a message and I'll call back.

Love to all, Narda

Blessings to all our classmates who keep in contact with one another. Special blessings and acknowledgement for those who are healing and finding contentment inn solitude without being lonely. We are reminded that even darkness does not last forever. It is my prayer that our worst days are behind and that our future will be bright and promising.

Keep safe and be well.
