William Flewellen - Class Of 1969

William FlewellenWilliam R. Flewellen March 7, 2008 COLUMBUS, GA— Mr. William R. Flewellen died Friday at St. Francis Hospital. He resided at 3539 Stratford Drive in Columbus. A native of Columbus, Mr. Flewellen was born to the late William Rutledge and Clifford Lee Flewellen Suber. A life-long resident of Columbus, William was a 1969 graduate of William H. Spencer High School. He also attended Columbus State University. He was a member of Revelation Missionary Baptist Church and its Deacons Ministry. William was the proud National President of the William H. Spencer Alumni Association, often going above and beyond his call of duty. He reminded and encouraged each and every graduate of Spencer that they were indeed a "Spencerian" and that in itself was something to be very proud of, because of the rich heritage involved with that educational institution. Mr. Flewellen was a salesman with Jay Toyota. He also had been a salesman with Ken Thomas Honda and Sears, Roebuck and Co. He was a member of the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame and the Muscogee County Superintendent's Round Table. Surviving are a devoted wife, Mrs. Annette Flewellen; two sons, Gregory B. Flewellen (Keisha) of League City, TX., and William T. Flewellen (Tonya) of Hoschton, GA.; one daughter, Traci M. Flewellen of Columbus, GA.; five grandchildren, Ciara M. Flewellen, Kamree M. Flewellen, Ashley Flewellen, William T. Flewellen and Gregory B. Flewellen Jr.; one brother, Lindsey Miller (Katherine); three sisters, Betty Muhammad, Marion Williams and Sheryl Spencer (Melvin), all of Columbus; his in laws, Homer Harrison (Linda) and Minerva Foster (Nathan); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Flewellen will be laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery on Saturday after an 11 a.m. funeral service in the sanctuary of Revelation Missionary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Valerie Thompson. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home
