You won't find my name or picture in the grade school memories because I didn't join our class until Freshman year. My grade school education was conducted in one-room parochial school houses maintained by St. John (now Redeemer Lutheran Church), Convoy, and/or St. Thomas LC, Ohio City. To this day I brag that I "graduated third in my eighth-grade class," and then add with an impish grin, "There were only three of us."
After high school, I attended Concordia College, Ann Arbor, MI, for one year, and then I joined the US Army for a three-year stint which included a tour in Vietnam.
In 1969 I married Connie, whom I had met at college and after my military service, we settled in her hometown of Indianapolis, IN.
I worked for a number of years in industrial sales positions before obtaining a college degree in Computer Science. I then worked in the field of computer programming, eventually earning management positions with a national shopping center developer and then an airline.
In 1985, at the age of 45, I felt moved to become a minister, and entered four years of post-graduate education at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN. After earning a Master of Divinity degree in 1999, I was called to serve a start-up church in the Indianapolis area where I served until early 2010. I then became trained and credentialed as an Intentional Interim Minister and serve churches for about a year at a time that are between pastors and need some guidance, direction and/or problem solving before obtaining their next permanent pastor. In that role I served churches in Memphis, TN; Odessa, TX; Indianapolis, IN; and Manassas, VA. I officially retired in 2015 but continue to fill in at various local churches when asked.
I enjoy reading crime/mystery novels (now on my Kindle), spending time with the grandchildren, an occasional game of golf, and traveling with Connie.
