Albert Newton

Newton, Albert age 66 of Brooklyn Park on April 11th, 2021. Preceded in death by parents Arthur Sr. and Lois Newton, and sisters-in-law Bonnie Newton and Nancy Jasper. Survived by loving wife of 40 years Lee, daughters Liz Corwin (Mike), Jess Wilson (Heath) and Merri Jimenez (Sergio), grandkids Kai, Cole, Mateo and Isabella. Siblings Arthur Jr, Bruce (Denise), Tom, Jeanne Hugill (Ken) and siblings-in-law Mike Heurung, Chris Heurung and Lila Bednar. Also many nieces, nephews and friends. After graduating Coon Rapids High School in 1973, Albert served in the Navy on the USS Long Beach before returning to Minnesota to start a family and career. He began a long, productive career in software design while raising twin daughters with Lee. He was passionate about robotics and science fiction; he was an inventor and patent holder. Known by many as the Cat Whisperer his kindness extended to all he met. Al was a Trekkie and a stalwart MN Twins fan even in the lean years. A great surprise came his way when Liz, through the magic of a DNA test, found a daughter Albie had never known about. And when his heart opened up to welcome Merri, he also gained another son and two more grand kids. Albert hadn't been retired long but he enjoyed the laid back pace of discovering new interests and hobbies. By far his greatest joy was in traveling to meet his firstborn daughter Merri and finally hug her. Albie will be greatly missed and loved forever. No services were held, per his request. There will be a celebration of Al's life in July.

Albie, you've been such a great friend for most of my life and I will miss you dearly. A get together just isn't the same without you and your wonderful sense of humor. Rest in peace my friend and I pray God will give your family strength and comfort. Love you.
