Dave and I sat at the same lunchroom table in junior high. He bought hot lunch, I was brown bagger. I was always envious of those who could afford hot lunch; there's only so many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a person can eat in one life.
Dave loved Rice Krispie bars, and my mom often packed one in my lunch. When she did, I could have anything I wanted off of Dave's tray in trade. Hell, he loved them so much, I could have probably traded him one Rice Krispie bar for everything on his tray.
Dave is also the guy who told me what a cool band the Animals were. He always did know what he was talking about.
There's also a story about Dave cracking wise in Mr. Sundstrom's seventh grade health class, but that one probably shouldn't be put down in writing.
