NEWS about our 1967 CAVALIERS

December 2025 - Update

PLEASE share our with our classmates - our 60th reunion is in early 2027. Can you believe it?

Here's an update from our recent events.

On the morning of October 25, our classmates had a nostalgical tour in air conditioned bus around Coral Gables and its landmarks while sipping champagne courtesy of our classmates Rick Strain and Brad Booke.

On the evening of October 25, we had a celebration at Salt Waterfront Restaurant on Key Biscayne. There was dinner, music, and dancing. A wonderful time was had by all.

MEMORIES
Class Birthday Party - April 6, 2024

We Cavaliers of the Class of 1967 are 75 Years Young

Food, Wine, Dancing at Salt Waterfront Restaurant - Key Biscayne

DANCING!  as you might guess. the ladies stepped forward.
(But not the guys...)

Some Cavaliers partied at their hotel, Silver Sands Resort, on the beach and reconnected with wine & champagne poolside. (THANK YOU, RICKY STRAIN). Also, about 20+ people dined on April 5 (Friday) at Rusty Pelican. You can see photos of that dinner occasion in the album. Several additional photos are from Alex's house, where 4 ladies were the Soto's house guests

Appreciation for our dear leader, Alex   +  DK's organizing skills & creative decorations +  Candy's successful work with the catering folks at Salt Waterfront Cafe + each of the other folks who pitched in.

SPECIAL thanks to our generous donors who supplemented the monies from our ticket sales. Without you, it would not be the same!

Reunion Appreciation

We are thrilled to hear all the positive feedback for our recent 55th Reunion! For us, it was an honor to organize the weekend and a blast working together, but there were many classmates involved with making the two events so successful. We sincerely thank the following :

Alex Soto for spearheading the efforts, serving as treasurer and managing communications and registration;

Rose Smith Elmore for her technical expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, among other things, communicating and managing reservations using clumsy website programming;

Rick Strain for securing the venues and providing amazing entertainment not the least of which were the calf roping lessons and contest as well as trailering donkeys to the Thursday night venue;

Debbie Henderson Kondelik (DK) and Connie Knight for designing and creating decorations for the events that were both magnificent and meaningful;

Bill Averitt for creating and leading the outreach team and compiling the reported data; and

Nancy Kohlenberg Watkins for creating the attractive nametags for yet another reunion.

And kudos as well to the army of classmates who did whatever was necessary to ensure a good time was had by all. Many wore multiple hats, and most did a whole lot more than they initially volunteered to do. Listed in alphabetical order, our amazing volunteers were:

  • Yolanda Hutchins Beckman
  • Brad Booke
  • Ellen Dale Butler
  • Clark Cochran
  • Janet Holmes Evans
  • Rebecca Hoodwin
  • Diane Adams Hughes
  • Frank Kendrick
  • Linda Tonks Johnson
  • Joe Lowry
  • Daru Sena Morrell
  • Harry Morrell
  • Steve Spooner
  • Beth Calvin Travis, and
  • Rocky Young

Many, many thanks to all the above and the vibrant classmates who were able to attend and bring the venues and events to life.  The weekend could not have been successful without their enthusiasm, kindness, and comradery, not to mention their eating, drinking, and dancing skills!

For this we will be eternally grateful.

Onward and upward!
