To Whom it May Concern:
We are writing on behalf of my daughter, Alexis Marie Olvera. Our little girl is 12yrs old and she was diagnosed with a right hypoplasia lung at the age of 8 months. After visiting with a pulmonologist in Houston, Texas, she was diagnosed with scimitar syndrome. With those results Dr. Robertson and Dr. Quinones referred my daughter to Texas Children’s Hospital. August 26,2009 was our first visit at Texas Children’s Hospital. After undergoing an echo cardiac, ct scan of the heart, lung perfusion, blood work, and many other test, Dr. Justino (Cardiologist from the Congenital Heart Surgery Department at Texas Children’s Hospital) gave us the results of all the tests.
We now come to find out that our daughter’s heart is on the right side of her body, and she has a main vein artery that is not attached from her heart to her lung the way it’s supposed to be.
On November 19,2009, my daughter will be undergoing surgery to have a Cardiac Catheterization and Lung surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston Texas (6621 Fannin, Houston, TX 77030). Dr. Justino and Dr.Heinly will be performing the surgeries.
My daughter is the most wonderful little girl!! She’s got the most loving heart. The money raised will go to medical bills and daily expenses. Any donations and contributions will be very much appreciated.
