The best part of my life occurred after graduating from King High School. I feel that I grew to be a much better person during my college years, and then afterwards once I entered the workforce. I did software development, but I also created and taught classes to my fellow workers. I would generally pick up new technologies very quickly and I would pass on what I learned to the people I worked with. I really enjoyed that.
The one thing that I heard often while at school, was that the people that went off to college rarely moved back to Corpus Christi after their college years. For me, it really wasn't an option as there weren't going to be much employment opportunities for software engineers in Corpus, especially not for people trained in the internals of operating systems and systems programming.
What are you doing these days, and how has that changed over the years?
Career/Job/Passions/Interests/Hobbies/Travel?
The last three years, I have been fighting stage 4 colon cancer. I have no family history of cancer, so I was considered low risk of colon cancer. There is no cure for what I have. My oncologist recently told me that the average life expectancy for someone with my kind of colon cancer is three years, so I have beaten the average.
I had a great career and a great supporting family. It's been a good life. I was not held back in life due to my parent's divorce and the problems that I had growing up. I believe that I exceeded the typical expectations.
