We are very sad to report that Claude died in a mountain climbing accident.

Claude was good at everything he did.  He was a wonderful athlete--quarterback of the football team and captain of the basketball team.  He was remarkably smart.  I always felt as though my brain was too small for some of those lengthy trigonometry calculations, but Claude never had a problem.  He'd sail through the work and then have time to help me. He was so very kind and his smile could melt your heart.  There are few people on earth who have as many talents as Claude did and there even fewer who would be as gracious and humble about them as he was.  He left a large hole to fill.

Claude was such a good person. Over the years I have thought about him with sadness. We were not close, but it was easy to see how extraordinary he was in so many areas. He was very smart, a star in sports and a truly kind person. I often wonder what amazing things he might have accomplished had the world not lost him at such a young age. We haven't forgotten you, Claude Kelly.

Another classmate I knew of but did not know well, Claude seemed just as Joyce and Terri have described him. Smart, quiet, multitalented, reserved. Someone who was an influential leader and unimposing. It still feels sad to know he died so young.
