After high school I attended and graduated from Southwestern Community College and then moved to Maryville where I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelor degree in elementary and early childhood education. I met my wife Michelle there. We moved to Des Moines, Iowa were I did my student teaching and worked full time as the program coordinator for childcare at the Riverside YMCA in downtown Des Moines. At this time I had lost interest in teaching but at the urging of a principal at a school in downtown Des Moines I decided to at least set up some interviews at put my self out there.
My first interview was in Blue Springs, Missouri, were I was offered a job teaching first grade in an elementary school of 650 students. My wife and I moved to Blue Springs and I started my career. At the urging of my principal at the time, I started work on my masters degree in administration in a cohort group through several school districts and Central Missouri State University. One year into the program I was offered an intern position at a middle school that would give me experience in administration. There I worked for a year as an assistant principal for before accepting a job at my previous elementary school as an assistant principal.
In 2007 my wife and I celebrated the arrival of our daughter Grace Leanne. She is truly my world. In 2008 we celebrated the birth of our niece, Maya, to Eric and Kristina. In that time she and Grace have become very close and we look forward to the times they can spend together.
I am currently working on my specialist degree in superintendency at the University of Central Missouri and will be starting a new position as an assistant principal at a middle school of approximately 700 students and an elementary school of approximately 550 students.
Michelle and I are also getting ready to welcome our second daughter into the world as our 15 year class reunion is taking place.
It is with great regret that I am missing this reunion as I have not missed one yet. I am sure that by the end of the month I will have plenty of other things on mind though.
