CMHS All Alumni Gathering 2009
   This year the phrase "Crete Monee High School Homecoming" took on new meaning as approximately 900 Crete Monee graduates from twenty-five different states attended the first annual CMHS All Alumni Gathering. Held October 3 at Balmoral Track, alumni from graduating years 1955 to 2006 gathered to renew friendships and reminisce their high school days at Crete Monee.
   The innovation for this event came from CMHS Class of 1974 graduates Jill Ratajack Hayhurst and Pam Howard, and started with the idea of bringing people together from multiple class years. A handful of classmates from the 1970's era were added to the committee to assist with the arduous task of collecting names and addresses of CMHS graduates from 1941 to the present. Placing notices on social networking sites such as classmates.com and facebook.com and signs in the windows of local businesses helped get the word out.
   "Keeping it local" was the focus from the inception with everything from the planning meetings to the actual event taking place in Crete. Crete restaurants and bars were overflowing the weekend of the event when large groups of party-mood classmates hit the town. Local businesses and several CMHS classmates generously donated gift certificates to the planning committee to be given out as door prizes the night of the event at Balmoral Track.
   Besides a night of good times with old friends, the $25.00 ticket price bought the partygoers racetrack admission, a Balmoral Park program, hors d'oeuvres, and a chance to bring home one of the over fifty door prizes. The CMHS classmates even got to mingle with past and present faculty members Sue Giannantonio, John Hayhurst, Wynn Hopkins, and Vickie Spahn.

   Given the throngs of pleased partygoers, the CMHS Alumni Gathering committee decided to make this an annual event at Balmoral Park. Information about the 2010 CMHS All Alumni Gathering can be found online at www.cmhsreunion.net.
