LOOKING FOR A TRAVEL PARTNER
Timeline: (flexible) - I'd like to travel south for approximately two months next year and I'm looking for an adventurous person to share this experience and the navigation from here to there. I'm open to traveling to any points south of the Georgia/Florida line at this time. We will be stopping at many campgrounds, both public and private, and as many points of interest as we can find. Where would you like to visit? Have you been to the Florida Keys? Do you like to fish?

You can travel for one week, two weeks, or more. Fly back home, take a Greyhound bus, or just finish the adventure.

Preferences - Must be able to read a road map / GPS / or a Boy Scout compass, I will do the driving and like to keep road time at a minimum so we have time to smell the roses if we find any.

Requirements - Non-smoker, tidy, a sense of humor, share cost of travel expenses ( gas, food)

Provided - Travel and sleeping accommodations. I am not looking for a nurse and a purse or vice versa.

Accommodations - 27-foot Airstream Flying Cloud camper. Google Airstream 2010 flying Cloud floor plan. This camper sleeps six people but I am looking for just one down-to-earth person to share this space.

Next Steps - If this sounds like something you may be interested in, I welcome discussing this venture further. Come for an interview and interview me. Be sure to ask many questions as I will have some of my own.

We will be taking a shake-down trip/camp near Spring Creek to see if everything clicks between the two of us and the travel capsule. This time period is when we make adjustments to our time together on the road, remember we only live once so good planning will be essential to make this a trip to remember and share our experiences with others.

One final note, I am nearing my 82nd birthday, but I have the spirit of a teenager. I've been around the block a few times and now I'd like to travel to see more of our beautiful country. I enjoy storytelling, bartering/trading, and learning from others. I'm easy-going, street-smart, and very observant. As a heads-up, I hope you'd be open to pulling over and exploring a bit if something catches my eye or if you're interested in something on the road. Other than the many Florida miles logged and sites seen, what could possibly go wrong as time marches on for the both of us? One more thought, we could compile enough data to write a book on our travels to life's end or a wiser beginning.

I have been contacting my "old" classmates and enjoying it, thanks! I move to NC in 1994 where I bought a 98-acre farm in the mountains. A few years later, I bought another piece of land up the mountain, and I moved up there in 2017. In 2019, I sold the original farm. Check out some cool drone footage here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQhE0aeE5a0

------
2021 Update
My partner and I have sold the former Briar Rose Farm to the right people. I have moved up the road to what I now call the Hare farm. My new neighbors and I have joined in an interesting venture, and we are combining all of our lands. We are going to build a small version of the Application Trail (AT) with AT-like shelters and an AT-like hiking trail.

The trail will be about 5 miles long, give or take, with the 36 species of trees and various rock formations identified along the way. The campsites will be along the trail, but they'll be hidden from the view of other hikers. There are a number of springs in the mountains, and fresh drinking water will be available along the trail.

School Story:

I remember being in study hall and bored. I dropped a note ties to a pencil out the window. It read, "Help, I'm being held captive." I forgot about the note till the principal walked in and asked to talk to me. I had forgotten that his office was right below my study hall and the pencil was tapping against his window!

I just started yet another chapter in my life. With the help of the publisher of my first book, we are building an educational display much like (Old World Wisconsin ) My publisher bought my first farm in North Carolina now called Rare Bird Farm, look them up. They are a non-profit group and have turned my old farm (Briar Rose Farm ) into a music venue with shows and workshops almost every weekend. After taking my daughter Brenda's 6th class years ago to Old World Wisconsin I thought how fun it would be to create something similar in Madison County North Carolina where I live. We were devastated by the flood waters of Hurricane Heline and are rebuilding I thought I could add some ideas for show and tell for educational purposes. So far I have acquired two grist mills for grinding field corn into bread flour and animal feed, an old corn sheller several old blacksmith tools, and just acquired an old store scale for weighing good goods by the pound unlike they do today in boxes and plastic bags. Being a professional picker as I am I know how to find this old-time stuff.
and do this every day on Facebook Marketplace. My publisher and friend Mitchell Davis want to turn my farm into a museum, See ( Tom Hares Madison County Cabin ) I was born in the forties, I still have my high school car my 1940 Ford coupe and I have bought the house I live into the 1940s also. If you would like to add to this venture, give me a call at 828 622 3230, Email me, at toms1940ford@gmail.com, or do a note to Tom Hare, 489 Duckett Top Tower Rd. Hot Springs N.C. 28743.

It's never too late to start a new venture, this is what keeps Tom Hare going, thank you for your time reading my update. 12/8/1924

Read what happened when I left my home in Crystal Lake at 53 years old. My first book was published on Jan. 15th, 2024 (Mountain Bound And The Life I Found https://a.co/d/3DWFbli), you can say I am living on the back side of fifty and still having fun at 82 years old.
