Tea Baggers & Age & Boldness
Posted Thursday, May 21, 2009 06:37 PM

I was wondering how many of our classmates have attended the Tea Parties??

In High School, I never considered myself a Rebel but as I get older, I've become more outspoken.  Maybe that's because ages gives us permission to be bolder.

Just wanted to know other's opinions on the subject and who has come out of their shell as they group up???

I was wondering how long it would take you to find this Ger! So, glad you did. First comment is to you and all, use a larger type face some some of us old farts can actually read what we post!

And come on Ger, were the generation of protest! If we don't like something, we let others know about it! Tea bags are just symboles - and better than guns. But it will doubtless escalate to that. We'd better do a lot of "tea bagging" or whatever peaceful means we can to avoid totally losing this nation to those who are trying to take it from us - in all the ways you suggest and more - many more as you and I have discussed.

You also know this isn't only about what Geore Bush did or didn't do - talk about a subterfuge! It's about globalists seizing world power and domination - but we know (or should know) how it all ends so I'll just keep "tea bagging" and vociferously letting "them" know how I feel about all this and eventually join the King in taking back His throne!

So, I laud the "tea baggers" and anyone else who's had enough of all this and wants to voice their opinion! And I love you too brother for enlighening us the way you do! Glad you found this - it's about time! Post at the Changing Times thread too Ger - you'd have some good stuff to report there!

I attended our first Tea Party and loved it - liberals and conservatives on each side of me and they all desired change - but not the change they've been getting for the past 20 years!

So, hooray for rebels Donna! I just wonder when we're going to realize that there's only one rebel who can make sense of this world anymore - the King of Kings!

Can't say I came out of my shell as I grew up - but sure liked ingave lots more dialogue about all these kinds of things as a result of doing so!

Ger:  I think you might be surprised how many Americans do know the real reason.

"The inability of the colonists to get power to issue their own money permanently out of the hands of George III was the prime reason for the revolutionary War.”

It's for sure that we aren't getting the power to use our money - We aren't getting any say in the TARP, Bailout or Stimulus money.  I could give a "rip" about seeing the National Zoo or the Board Walk in Delaware expanded.  Too much pork.  We are spending our children into debt.

Talk about Stalin - HR 1388 Obama's Youth Core, CEO's being told to step down by the government - strong arming the banks to take the money.  The list goes on. Those who don't study history are going to repeat it.  It sounds like the Roosevelt administration all over again. Capitolism should have been allowed to work.   - Just my two cents.

OK, as self appointed "Forum Leader", I'm going to suggest we take a different direction with this or otherwise Ger's just going to be apologizing for offending people! Let's be respectful but not worry about offending people - for Heaven's sake, we're all "big people" now who don't need to be spoon fed! So, you'll just have to put up with my penchant for action as that is what I do in my business - I activate people to engage!

Let's quit talking and start ACTING! So, in that spirit, what should we now DO about all these challenges we're facing - I agree with Ger that most of them DO exist - so let's go beyond that and discuss what we can do about it - because we need to ACT or we're all in trouble! I for one never think it's too late! The Tea Party's are one groups idea how to engage but what are others that will result in the change we desire? We proababy have divergent thoughts on what those changes should be but lets just let our "engagement ideas" reflect what we think needs to be done!

Hey we're supposed to be the "wise guys" at this stage of our lives so what must we DO to get our world to where we want it to be? NO long posts, how about just several paragraphs at a time with suggestions on how we as individuals can affect change that all people can live with and that all people will pay an equal % for?

I don't believe in Revolution -- I plan to make sure my vote and others count.  I plan to continue to attend the tea parties and work through the peaceful organizations that are trying to get some common sense back in our government.  Also some of the states are standing up and are  trying to limit the federal governments rights.

I'm from Florida and I don't believe there was voter fraud in the middle or Northern part of the State.  Maybe in south in Broward County.  I think people listened to a bunch a news reports that were just media bias.

It's also about voter responsibility.  If you can't check your ballet before it's turned in  to make sure your vote is correct, then maybe they shouldn't vote.  It's all about personal responsibility in this world.  It's not the Governments responsibility to try to do mind reading on your ballet.

As far as land mines - Can you say that Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, etc. have signed up to the land mine treaty.  As far as Isreal is concerned, there probably isn't another country today that would put up with the garbage Israel has to live with.  Iran (denying the Holocust), Lebanon, Syria and Egypt allowing weapons to be smuggled into Israel.

Ger: It's great that you have taken a personal approach to child abuse.  They do not have enough advocates for sure.

Hey, all this talk, all this talk. Through all these years, actually all these centuries, hasn't it really been about, you got what I want, and I will do what I can to get what you got?  In the words of that prophet (  Rodney King )  "why can't we just get along" .

I am just so fed up with all this crap going on.  For the love of God, or whoever you beleive in, isn't it time to think about mankind.  Craziness in the far and middle east, and at home in the US, if we don't get it together as a world community, then were all going to hell.

Right arm Charlie!

(Say, did all you "Forum posters" here know that you can set your "default photo" - the one shown here when you post a message - to a current photo if you'd like? Just go to the "Member Functions" menu at the left and click "Edit/Upload Photos". Than next to one of your current photos, click the "MAKE THIS MY MASTER PHOTO" link. If you don't chose a Master Photo, the site automatically uses your Senior Photo. But then I'm not so sure we should change, we were all "so cute" back then! )

Hi to all who have been writing on the various sites.  I want to emphasize something that I said in an earlier post on the Message Board, and that is personal responsibility.  We forget what a powerful force one can be.  We have so many choices,,, paper or plastic or cloth; fuel efficient car or guzzler ; lots of energy consuming " toys" or hobbies or not ; addiction to consumerism and being a slave to slick marketing campaigns or being informed ; what food products and packaging we buy ; the values we impart to our children and now grandchildren; where/how we invest our money ( way too many issues here to even begin) ; how we treat animals, pet and otherwise; factory farming and all its implications ( even the thinning ozone layer ) or not; organic or chemical foods; super green lawns at the expense of water or natural; buying into sexual addiction and pornography or denouncing it; voting for public servants who support OUR causes and not their own;  Many other daily small choices are out there that make a big difference, and if done by the " pig in the python " ( that's our generation) then, it translates into massive change.

I don't think the oil crisis, the wars, the global AIDS, and the greed on the part of all governments happens in a vacuum.  We created a tremendous demand for oil by our consumeristic  lifestyles that drain energy, both material and spiritual, in insipid ways.

We can make a difference.  You just have to figure out what your values are and live true to them, from the big things, like voting, to the little things, like , making sound food choices for the planet, or what movies you rent.  If we continue to pay for energy hogging lifestyles, entertainment put out by a Hollywood whose values demean most forms of life except their own, we will have to continue to live in the world which WE created.  Considering we were the generation of peace and love, it is surprising to see how much our creature comforts  may have won over to date.  Just something to think about!

My original blog was not meant to start political discussions, but to find out if the Class of 69 had become bolder as they grew older.  Have we come out of our shell as we've experienced more things in life?

It is true, however if we continue to let the Supreme Court make laws, we will have less and less freedom.  As far as whether it's Republican or Democrat, I think most Americans feel that politics is too corrupt.

Hey classmates, I'm sure loving "the break from reality" by talking about all our fun memories of days gone by, but let's not "hide our heads in the sand" and forget that we live in a very dangerous world which got more dangerous over the weekend with the reelection of Ahmadinejad.

So just to keep various discussions going here, are any of us worried about the state of our country and our world and what ACTION are we all taking to make it a better and safer place for our grand children? Remember, we were the generation of protest! Is there anything we should be protesting these days? Or are we just fat and happy thinking that "everything's copesetic man"?  (Many posts would be good - please no long drawn out ones that will put those of us with ADD, asleep! )

Lots of classmates have recently joined the site so we just want everyone to know that there are currently three blog Forums with 14 topics being discussed. Donna Taylor Magill got us going with this earlier (and third most popular so far) discussion of the Tea Bag parties. So, all you Unhappy Campers, this is the Topic for you to discuss your thoughts regarding the road on which our country is currently heading. Anything happened in that realm since the last post here?

Check out all the topics and post a comment if you have something to add! If you click on the Forum List at the top of the page, you can view the Forum titles. Click a title and you will see the the individual topics listed in that Forum. If you'd like to start your own topic to be discussed, click "Post New Topic" at the top of the page, name your topic and post away! Happy Blogging!
