Pilgrims and Indians Posted Monday, July 13, 2009 04:28 PM I believe this photo above was taken in 6th grade. I am the Indian wearing the headress and shaking hands with the pilgrim. Just to my right in the back (wrapped in a blanket) is Candy Kirchberg. Next (with her eyes closed and arms folded) is Debbie Svejcar, then Lisa Hill and ?. I can't tell who the pilgim is, but to his left are Linnea Nystrom, Julie Haberstick, Janet Johns, ?, then Lynn Dinzole on the far left. The same cast is in the photo below. |

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 06:17 AM Hi Charlie and Linda. I believe it was at South Junior High. I went to North School in 4rth and 5th grade but things changed after the tornado destroyed our house. We lived down by the lake while our house was being rebuilt so I went to South for 6th grade. |

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 04:48 PM That WAS great Bob.Thanks for sharing! I thought Candy and Debbie and Julie Haberstick went to St. Thomas though? But I guess they must have left before I did in 8th grade? Candy? Debbie? Great memory on the names and faces though!

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Wednesday, July 15, 2009 07:02 PM The Haberstik's (spelling) went to St. Thomas. They moved out of CL to somewhere I guess in Iowa or something. Julie was a classmate and friend of mine when we were in grade school. |

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Thursday, July 16, 2009 09:41 AM Hi Kathy, I remember Julie and got to know her when we lived down by the lake. Unless I'm having a memory meltdown, I thought Julie went to South Junior High for 6th grade. I believe that South Elementary was closed for construction so the 6th graders went to the junior high building that year. I remember hanging out with Julie at times that year and I thought we walked to school together on nice days. Oh well, the memory's the first thing to go. Either way, I thought Julie was a neat young lady. She was fun to be around, she had an infectious smile and eyes that sparkled. |

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Thursday, July 16, 2009 08:42 PM Well, I sure could be wrong about Julie H. Thought she was in my first communion class, though. I was always at their house down by the lake - Mrs. H. drove a woody - Mr. H and Carl were in a car accident, Carl Jr. survived. Julie may have transferred to a public school at some point during grade school. She was a cutie - and all those brothers! Steve was my favorite - but, really they were all pretty nice to me. I've heard bits and pieces about them from time to time. |

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Friday, July 17, 2009 05:20 PM She had to have transferred to the public schools somewhere between 1st and 8th grade as she is not in the 8th Grade class photo Kathy.

RE: Pilgrims and Indians Posted Friday, July 17, 2009 06:07 PM Hi Paul - thanks for the info. Checking back on the blog for St. Thomas, I see Julie sitting in the same row as I was. I had to have met her at that time and we remained friends until they moved (I was devestated). They must have moved, then, before Julie was in high school. So, for some reason, she transferred to the public schools before 8th grade. I wonder why. Well, I wish we could find her. Thanks again. |

That is a great pic Bob! That is the year I moved to Crystal Lake from Cary and joined you guys at South Jr. High. I think I moved in January so I missed the Pow-Wow. I do remember Julie H. I thought she was beautiful! She was a fun person! |

Just saw this great pic, Bob. It is me on the far left hand side of the picture. I remember the bonnet part of the costume well! In the picture of us at the table I can see my nose peeking (peaking?) out--looks just like my daughter's... As for South Jr High--wasn't it for 7th and 8th graders but there was crowding or something so we went over there as 6th graders--and hit the big time! I have a photo of Ms. Clausen's class (6th grade?) and one of Mr. Reed's 5th. I will try to scan them tomorrow and get them to Paul for posting. And I will bring them to the reunion next week. DOES ANYONE have Mr. Happ's 4th Grade photo? If you do and can't post it at least bring it to the reunion! Dinzole |
