Reunion: Rite of Passage
Posted Tuesday, September 22, 2009 09:20 AM

 Hello All:

Before the week runs away from me  and I forget the the visceral experience of the last few days,I want to thank and congratulate all of my fellow 69ers for a wonderful time!

This reunion was an intense time of laughing, recalling and remembering our forgotten youth, honoring the memory of those who have passed , and a celebration of community. Altho I was not able to talk to each person , one on one, what I  take with me from this experience is the recognition and understanding that we are all united in a very special bond that  is transformative.

I saw many grey heads, but I will remember,  the open hearts and young eyes.

Rock on Class of 1969!

Blessings to you all,

Nick

How perfectly put, Nick!  You are wonderful.

Everyone was so genuinely happy to reconnect with fellow classmates.  It was a joy to watch the recognition, smiles and hugs and to hear the laughter permeating the air.   The weekend was a shot in the arm for all who attended.

 Joan:

I am sooo glad you could come to the reunion and grace us with your witty and beautiful self, and bummed i could not properly say good bye at the Brunch on Sunday. ( Peggy explained that you were a bit " verklempt" and had to leave) . Nan and I got there  a little after 10:15, I believe and i was glad we had the last bit of time with some of the gang.

If you ever want to get together this autumn  either in the city or I can hop on a train to Arlington, let me know: my cell is 773-330-1958.

Take care and it was great seeing you.

Nick

P.S. With all of youse guys shopping for various hair products  and  the like on Saturday, Nan STILL forgot her schmancy fancy  shampoo and conditioner at my place. I was instructed earlier via phone to send the parcels to her. Sheesh!

Hello all:

The reunion was fabuloso to the 10th power on the half shell running wild - thanks everyone who put in all the hours it took - totally great job.

I need to make a formal apology to all of the individuals who I so rudely yelled:

"Get you sorry asses up and dance" - no, what I really said was, "Get your sorry old asses up and dance", no that's not entirely true either.  It was: "Get your sorry old fat asses up and dance."  Really, really sorry about that...  I still have that evil streak that periodically (ie-frequently) rears its ugly head.

It was so great to see every one and I am looking forward to the next.

Everyone looked wonderful - soothing balm to my eyes and spirit.

One question: was I always that much taller than most of the class?

And Nick - pronto with the hair care stuff-chop chop :)

Love to all to the moon and back,

MN

What a party we had!!!  It was so great seeing everyone having good time and the laughter--oh my!!

Thanks to all who made this happen!  It was just a stupendous effort!

I think I am just feeling a little normal today!  Have not rocked to 3 in the morning two days in a row in a long time!!

We do have a very special group when I compare to what other classes say and do.  Seems like we could always step up, figure things out, and execute and have the best fun!   Makes me so happy and proud to be associated with the CLCHS-Class of 69.

You all are the greatest!  Stay in touch all of you and write me when you can!!!

Rick (AKA Barney!)

I guess it's taken me a bit longer than the rest of you to come down from this weekend.  It's Thursday evening and I'm just reading the posts put up since the reunion.  Many have made tears well up in my eyes (never knew Dinzole was such a softie, heh?)  Having everyone there made the work we did organizing it well worth it.  Every event was a chance to talk, laugh and connect with those who were with us when our lives were ahead of us.  What a shared past we have.  A wonderful past for many of us.  Thank you all for coming and making the weekend the very special time it was.

I beat you on the late reply Lynne - but I share your emotions as I read these posts and the many thank you's that have been sent to me personally! You all have brought tears to my eyes as well and made this effort all worth it! This "whole thing" was what I hoped it would be from the outset. The website gave us a tool to keep connected well beyond the event in CL but there is nothing like coming together face-to-face to share our lives.

I'm happy to hear that others felt they did not have as much time as they would have liked to connect - I sure felt that BIG time! Sorry for all my superficial hellos and welcomes but I at least wanted you all to feel welcome having had the opportnity to reconnect with SO many of you via this site prior to the reunion! There were SO many of you I would love to have sat down with for at least a few minutes to hear about your lives. From the sounds of it though, you all did feel that you were able to have some quality time with other classmates. And thank each of you with whom I did get that little bit of "face time" - it provided me great joy!

There is something about "touch points" in our lives that bring us together in a way that can not happen without them. We had one of these 40-44 years ago and it was just a joy to my heart to see us bring it back at the reunion. Don't know what the future will hold for each of us but we know that we have a group of people in our lives that truly do care about us - even if we don't connect all the time!

Many have asked if the website will stay active and I hope all of you know by now that it will - as long as there is someone to administer it anyway! We may do some fund raising from time to time to keep whatever we need to going. The website hosting is free for now but that could change and we do have some minimal expense to keep the URL name active. We'll let you all know whenever we need help.

So Nick, thanks for taking the lead in starting this post since I was out of touch immediately following the reuinon. Your action demonstrates that this is YOUR site (the entire classes!) and we'll need that kind of blodness to keep it going! I think this BLOG section will play an important role in keeping this a vibrant and active site. So, be creative! Don't worry if no one responds to your post - maybe the next one will be something that really stirs something in others? You know what Winston Churchhill said, "never, never, never give up"! We like to hear from everyone.

Paul
