John passed away on January 4, 2002 in Tucson, Arizona.

I ran into John in the late 70's when my company put me up at a hotel during a typical Illinois blizzard. John was the bartender there and if my memory is correct, his wife worked there as well. I had a good conversation with a genuinely nice guy.Gerald Wilhelmi
I remember John as being happy and a perpetual smile on his face like he just got away with something. John greased his hair straight back in school. Once I saw him at the New Place and he had washed out the grease and had very stylish Beatles type hair cut. John was the only one that I know that was able to beat the oppressive dress code.School did not invite free expression or free speech. It did not teach how to be a better person or to be self determined and better equipped to handle your life. Either you learned to accept without question or learned how to beat it.
I admire John for not giving in. After High School we were expected to go to Vietnam or College or become good citizens but couldn't even dress ourselves...Miss you buddy
