Larry was a team mate in baseball and football with me. We played all 4 years together and 3 years in the summer with the American Legion team. When Larry was pitching and I was playing 3rd base, I would sneak a bit of vasiline on to the ball when we threw the ball around the infield after an out. Larry could throw a mean "spitter" after that! I still remember that wry smile he would flash when that ball got over to him! He is a true Crystal Laker!

All of us who played basketball alongside Larry will remember how quiet he was, and how fierce a competitor. His play did the talking. I remember especially those Saturday morning games when we were freshmen. With maybe a dozen folks scattered in the stands, it was embarrassingly easy for everyone to hear Coach Goodwin's plaintive cry from the bench: "C'mon fellas, Larry's doing all the work out there!"

Didn't really know Larry in HS, but we ended up being teammates for several years playing softball...quiet, but intense. Good player and good guy. I remember that he liked to be called LT.
