Lynda Scaggs Bronson passed away June 13, 2013 just three weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Thank you Barbara Larsen Hardin for the following information about Lynda's life follow our years at CLCHS.
After graduating from high school Lynda moved to California but eventually moved back to Lake in the Hills. She met Patrick, her husband, and then moved to Florida. Lynda had a houseful of dogs and a yard full of horses, and soon had 2 daughters also. Pat built Lyn a day care center in Tampa which Lyn operated for years before going to college to get her degree and teaching certificate. Patrick died of cancer 12 years ago, but Lynda kept going on her own, teaching challenging high school students who had been expelled from regular school, spending time with her daughters and her step children, going to the races, and driving her granddaughter in the golf cart to the neighborhood restaurant for breakfast on weekends. The best things in Lynda’s life were her animals, her daughters and her little granddaughter, who Lyn saw almost daily.

I clearly remember Linda from school. I own a home near Tampa and have spent alot of time there and was susprised that someone from our class (Linda) also lived there. It remInded me how little interaction there actually was between school mates and I thought that was a bit sad. I wish Linda well in whatever awaits her in the life after this one. And even though there was so little, in the way of communication, I could clearly see Linda was one of the good ones. G

After high school, Lyn worked downtown Crystal Lake at the Pantry Restaurant and attended classes at MCC.
Around 1975, she met and married Lou Bronson. They traveled and lived in California a short time, returned here, and then settled north of the Tampa area in Dunedin. There, with a lot of Lou’s help, Lyn opened a daycare.
She then continued her education, where her degree led her to teaching. At that time, they built a home outside of Tampa, in Olsmar. She taught for over 20 years in a school for “wayward” high-schoolers. She put many kids on a good road—she was so little, but she was tough. She understood their wants, and showed many the better ways to go in life.
Lyn and Lou raised two daughters. Christie worked and lived close to Lyn. Brianna, her 8-year-old granddaughter, was one of the loves of her life. Darcy, her younger daughter, is in the military and has been stationed in many states which Lyn visited. Darcy has also served overseas.
After Lou’s death, around 2001, Lyn continued to take care of her job, kids, home, and many horses, dogs, birds, and other animals. Yes, she was little, but not in her heart.
Lyn didn’t visit this area often, but was here last October to see her brother Tracy. I got to spend two and a half days with her at my home—mostly in our pajamas, with a fire going and a glass of wine—we talked, laughed, and shared many stories.
Several months later Lyn found out about her cancer and was gone so soon after. I will miss you my friend.
