Thanks, everyone! I thought it would be fun and so glad I could put it together. Please spread the word. Marissa will be putting the address to the site on printed materials being mailed out, so there will be more people that sign up then, but if you are in contact with anyone, please tell them about it.

Good job on the website, looks like alot of people have really done well for themselves which is cool. I'll probably be coming to the pic nic, but I believe we have a show that night, so don't guess I'll make it to the reunion. See you all at the pic nic...Paul..

Rebeccca:

I've really got to say that I'm horribly disappointed with the website, and can't believe you didn't put any more time into it than what you did. Joke.

I'd already told you what my actual opinion is... website is top shelf on every level, and you did an incredible job on it.

Looks like our class has finally been able to come together in agreement for the first time ever on something. Website is first class on every level, and all of us appreciate the work you put into it.

You're the best Beck.

The web site looks great! I just wanted to say thank you for the invitation...obviously I didn't graduate from Cullman, I actually graduated from Grissom in Huntsville. I haven't decided about going or not yet, there is a part of me that would feel a little weird not having graduated from Cullman. I have lived in Cullman for the last 20 years and see some of you regularly. It looks like everyone has done very well for themselves!

Wow...I think there have been several attempts at some type of website/communication site for our class but this one seems to have stuck. Great work. Thanks for the time you gave to setting it up. Won't be able to make the reunion unfortunately...too far away. I have enjoyed reading the bio's and updates...I will try to post some family pics soon.

Hey Everyone,

Don't forget to get your response cards back to me. We need to have an accurate count for food etc. I am so excited to see everyone and there has been great response to both the reunion and the Danny Ashley Memorial Scholarship Fund. The generosity that everyone has shown is amazing.

Can't wait to see you guys!

Hey, Bex-

I don't think I've seen you since AU...?

I guess the long stay at that hippie island commune has been really good for you...
If you're still selling those hemp necklaces, please send me a couple...C.O.D., of course...

Kidding - great job on the site. Don't know about the reunion but I'm sure I'll run into you sometime soon...just hope I'm not driving....

Hey Rebecca, thanks to you and Marisa and all who were involved in putting together the web site and the reunion. It looks to be a great time. Unfortunatly, I have plans to be out of town the weekend of the reunion and had already made committments to others before the date was announced. I am really going to miss the opportunity to visit with everyone again and hopefully the opportunity will come around again soon. I know these words are wasted on the class of '88 but "HAVE FUN", but most importantly be safe. Feel free to call or write anytime.

Hi All,
I was really looking forward to a night of inappropriate behavior and was angling for the "longest travelled" award (if there is such a thing), but I unfortunately can't make it back for the reunion. I have a couple events here in Beijing that will require my presence.
Have fun, and if I read about the gig in the Cullman Times, I hope it's in the features section and not in the police report.
All the best,
Trevor

Trevor-

I wish you'd knock off all of this "China" bullshit...everyone knows you're shacked up in a rusty double-wide in Holly Pond with Karen Kit Man Yip, eating fish head soup and fried spiders....give it a rest, will ya?

If you're gonna make stuff up, pretend you have cancer like Marshall and I are doing...

OK, now you've gone and pissed off my little Kipper!

If she ever finds you, and puts you in the Shaolin flying monkey testis hold, then your chemo is gonna feel like a walk in the park buddy! She practices on me, so I know!

For your information, the double-wide is in double sprangs, and we're doing quite well with our "decorating children's toys with lead paint" business, thank you very much. We're thinking of expanding into dosing milk with Melamine, which is very popular in China...

..but back to the whoopin Kipper's gonna give you...you'd better be watching over your shoulder...or in the bamboo trees above...

Trevor,
I will consider the reunion a bust if you do not read about it in the police blotter or see it on CNN. So have fun in "China" while Shane is rocking us with his rendition of "Hot for Teacher" on the guitar. Hey hold on, there's a knock at the door. Must be my shipment of toys and milk from China, thx Trevor for the package!

Hey, All-

I just started chemo again after a 3 1/2-year break, thanx to some lousy news from my oncologist - I may have to find a new doctor...I know I can count on the Class of '88 for one thing, though: "preventative medicine". Please send your donations of high-grade marijuana, well-packaged, to my address. All gifts, no matter how large or small, will be greatly appreciated.

Seriously, it looks like I will not make the reunion now, so I won't get to swap chemo stories with Marshall or talk about how much Trevor's son looks like him (scary, ain't it?). Everybody Wang Chung that night! (Maybe Trevor can tell us what that really means...?)

Oh, and JJ, yeah - you didn't graduate with us so you can't come. I think somebody should watch the door just to make sure he doesn't slip in...

Rebecca,

I enjoyed the reading the website yesterday. It was absolutely fascinating to learn about some of the journeys and see the pictures. I was surprised at my interest in reading and wanting to see more about our classmates. The different journeys read together to create an amazing picture life over twenty years...

education, careers, marriages, children, parenting, divorces, cancer, travel, and deaths.......

So much seems to have ocurred in what seems like a short time from Ginger's impersonation of Mr. Bentley.

Thank you and any others for the time you set aside to create this space on the web.

Thanks to Marisa and any others for the work of putting the reunion together.

Hey guys..I have a cabin rented at smith lake for the weekend. I have talked to a few guys about getting together after the game on friday down there. We can build a fire and relax a bit, play cards or whatever. Let me know if you are interested.

Hey everybody I am in China too!! I have a picture to prove it on my profile. I remember who was the brains behind the fake drivers license ring!! Its all a sham don't believe Trevor!! I need a rickshaw ride home after the reunion party.

10/07/08 01:06 AM #26

Shane McMeans

Hey, Joe- (that would make a great song...)

That trip to the Great Wall must have been killer! Maybe you'll run into Trevor - if you come back from China down 278 East, that is - his trailer is on the left at the top of the moutain.

Fake driver's licenses? Didn't everybody have a Newberry's Drug Store I.D.? They worked like a charm at Cane Creek Package Store in Warrior - just down from Wayne's.

Do you ever give tours of the state trooper facilities? I would really love to see..oh, I don't know...maybe the confiscation area. I bet there are lots of packages there...so many that no one would notice if, say, two or three just came up missing one day...They wouldn't frisk a guy using a walker with a large compartment under the seat, would they? Just curious...

Oh, and I take back what I said about JJ, and it doesn't have anything to do with him threatening to file charges against my mother for "borrowing" that Callaway driver from his store...he's just a good guy.

Hey Everyone! Been a while since I've seen everyones name together. Great website! Look forward in seeing everybody this weekend...

Joe, I think I saw you on the Wall! I was selling finger cuffs and you were teaching Tai Chi.

Shane, true, the Newberry's IDs worked for a while - I think longer in Decatur than in Warrior - but when those IDs went to pot, so to speak...and the Lacon 'legger was no longer an option, we, the promising class of 1988 showed true American ingenuity, pulled ourselves up by the bootstraps, stepped up to the plate, went back to the drawing board (insert cliche' here)...

I understand from sources who wouldn't publicly comment for fear of reprisal that some pics of people standing behind the giant mock up of the old AL license still exist (to be used if anyone runs for office). Recall that the handmade transparent Alabama seal, actually said "Alabama Sell".

The aforementioned IDs were most likely helping fuel an event I'd like to take Mr. Parrish back to, post-bonfire, Thursday, midnight, day-before-Homecoming, October 1987, CHS A-Building aka Junior class homecoming decoration hall (CSI riff - dan dan!)

Those who trashed the junior class hall (no matter how much fun it was and how good it felt) were most likely too inebriated to realize the juniors would get a huge sympathy vote the next day, thus winning homecoming. The better strategy would have been to trash our own hall and get the sympathy vote! Probably the only way we could have won...

If we knew then what we know now...(there would probably be a cancer vaccine, cold fusion, 8 years without dubya, world peace, no financial crisis and half the storage room Shane mentioned would be legal and safe, etc., etc.)

Drop by my pad on 278 Saturday night for the after-after-party if you want to reminisce...
