My fake license was taken when I tried to get my motorcycle endorsement at the DMV. You could have at least put that on there for me. Thanks again.

GEEZE ya'll sure went through a lot of trouble with fake ID's, you could of just borrowed a real one like we did, Right guys? you know who you are!...LOL Sometimes it pays to know older folks or have older siblings! If that don't work you can always visit the guy living in a van down by the river, he always has ample supplies!...Thanks for taking over for him Trevor our children will REALLY like you for that! I hate your not going to make the reunion but I realize saturday nite must be you biggest money maker! Maybe we should all pile up and head out to your place for a nite cap after the reunion! 'recon' you
will have any leftovers???????

I hate that I will miss the festivities it sounds like it is going to be a blast. I enjoyed reading about everyone and how their lives have turned out. Some people I had forgot even graduated with us. Did anyone notice that Tab looks the same? The only thing that looks old on him is his hair! Keep your eyes on Jeff Mize he just might get a little to rowdy. Have Fun everyone. My prayers go out to everyone. If anyone needs a D.D. Call me.......

Very nice night indeed. Fun. Fun. We may not have got a lot of respect back in the day (as a class), but we were a great class and it was a total pleasure to meet again and see all of you guys. WE HAVE ALL DONE WELL FOR OURSELVES!!! I almost drove my wife crazy Saturday...but that was so much fun and she is an expert DD...very nice. Marissa, thanks so much for busting your hump and Rebecca thanks for this website. Leslie..thank you so much for having us over pre-fest. You have a lovely home and we enjoyed ourselves a bunch. It's all good and God bless all of you guys!!!!

Last, but not least...McCain or we are screwed.

Sorry for the politics, but I'm pretty sure we can all take care of ourselves and our families. We - and our families before us - have all worked hard for what we have.

Thanks again!!! And God Bless America!!!

Darrell

I attended all three events over the weekend. I am amazed at the warmth and friendliness of everyone. For those classmates who did not come, you were missed.

Marisa and everyone that work to make things happen, thank you so much. Everything was wonderful. I can not think of anything you missed or could have done better. Everything was perfect.

To all, I am sad that I have to wait that long to enjoy ya'lls company. It was pleasure to sit and have a few with you. I dislike canned discourses, however I close with a favorite blessing...

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

I hated to miss Saturday night, but it was my daughter's last football game (she cheers NOT plays in case you wonder) so I just couldn't miss it. It would have been after 10 before I could get there and I knew by then you would all be so shloshed you wouldn't remember if I was there or not! It was great to see several of you Friday night at the game (come join us at Brewer next week if you're in town). We really shouldn't wait so long in between reunions. Easy for me to say since I had absolutely NOTHING to do with the planning! Thanks to Marisa for all she did!

Hey Guys!

I had a great time at the reunion and those who were not there missed a fun time. We took tons of pictures and Rebecca Brown Davis is working on a way to set up a link where we can post them for all to view. It was great seeing everyone.

We ended up raising over $4000 for the Danny Ashley Memorial Scholarship Fund. I am speechless at the generosity of all who gave. Can't wait to see you guys at the next reunion!

I would also like to add gratitude to everyone for being so fun Saturday night. It was great seeing all of you and seing that everyone is doing well. As we get a little older, some more than others haha!, it's nice to see that life has become more of a journey than a destination. All who were there looked wonderful, for our age, and a special thanks to Marisa, Rebecca, Lona, and whomever else helped out putting that night together (sorry that i do not know the names of everyone responsible). And a special thanks to the super wonderful Terri Pines CC for their hospitality (cough cough). I truly hope that it is not five more years until we all see each other again. Please feel free to call me anytime you want to get together again. I'll be free in 3-6 months or whenever probation starts hehe! please call my cell if you just want to chat also, as I really understand now what it truly means to be part of the Class of '88. 256.347.1472 is my cell, and since my phone will not let calls come through that i do not recognize, leave a voicemail and i will return the call as soon as possible! Thank you everyone again from the bottom of my heart!

Hey everyone! I heard the reunion was a blast. Sorry I missed it. Let's not wait 10 years to do it again. I can't wait to see the pictures so somebody please post some. Let's all keep in touch and continue to update our profiles with our many adventures in life. Paigeeeeeee

Wow!! It was great seeing a lot of friendly faces that I haven't seen in a while. Everyone looked great! It was really too short, there wasn't enough time to spend some quality time talking to everyone. We definitely need to have some kind of a get together maybe once a year or so. Thanks to everyone that had a hand in putting it all together. I'm really glad I decided to go, thanks again for the invite!!

Shane and Trevor, you were greatly missed...and Shane, if there's anything I can do for you, you know where to find me!

10/21/08 01:37 AM #47

Shane McMeans

JJ - yeah, I know where to find you, but Terri Pines is too hilly for a guy with a walker - even one as high-tech and off-road ready as mine is...If your offer is serious, though, pick me out about 20 Ashworth shirts and mail em - I can still look like a golfer, right? Throw in a wide-brim Greg Norman hat in case my hair falls out (again).

I'm really sorry that I missed the party, but God willing I will still be here for the next one, and I'll catch everyone then - 2038, right?

Thanks to everyone for the messages, prayers, and emails. I am a big believer in prayer, so everyone please remember to pray for Marshall and Jeff Mize (who is doing great, so I hear!) and any other classmates who might need 'em. To paraphrase an old AC/DC lyric, it ain't no fun waitin' round for your next chemo session...

Gary - you're looking mighty unsteady on that horse

Trevor - I'll catch u next time I'm out 278E, and if I remember right, the Lacon, Vinemont, and Battleground bootleggers all died the same year ('87 maybe?)...

Good Luck and God Bless!
S

Shane- Are you trying to say that all I do is play golf...well, I can't really argue with that. I do work a few days a week you know. And by the way, bald is in man, you obviously haven't seen me lately. Of course, I didn't really have a choice in the matter. Are you sure 20 Ashworth shirts will be enough?

10/22/08 09:00 PM #49

Steve Smith

Hey J.J. I'll take some of those Ashworth's myself if you have a few extra, already have a couple of the wide brim Greg Normans as someone seems to be stealing my hair as well. I hate I missed the party. I hear it was fun. Take care Shane, our thoughts are with you. I think I found my fake i.d. the other night, I wonder if it would still work......

10/22/08 09:14 PM #50

Double J-

My wife keeps pulling my hair to see if it will come out. I may just shave it and then you and I can walk around with our heads close together for Halloween and be an ass...
Losing the hair on your head isn't so bad - it's when you lose your eyebrows, eyelashes, and, uh..."other" hair that you REALLY start to look creepy...

20 shirts is about right. I wouldn't want anyone to get the impression that I'm one of those guys who doesn't have anything better to do than play golf everyday...
Just charge em to whichever of my parents comes in your store next. I need to spend my inheritance while I can, ya know...

Thanks, Steve, I really appreciate the note. I think my old I.D. is still taped above the register at Cane Creek Package in Warrior, under the handwritten sign that says "WE DON'T TAKE THESE ANYMORE". They also worked at Hogeland's as long as the old man's wife wasn't there...I think he died in '87, too...
By the way, I actually did get carded at the Riverchase On Tap last year - a 36 year old with a walker, for cryin' out loud...

Juanita - thank you so much for the messages and the scripture. You are a SWEETHEART. Sounds like we both got out of Alabaster about the same time, but I spend LOTS of time at the Kirkin Clinic/UAB (I'm averaging about 1 surgery every 6 months) so I know I will see you soon.
